Chase watched Felicity open the can, his eyes slowly turning purple as the soda came pouring out the top.
“So, yeah. You just flip up the tab. Like I did, except more… carefully.”
Chase made eye contact with her, his eyes a purple the shade of a violets’ petals. He nodded, less shyly than he previously had, more sure of himself.
He took the can from Felicity and took a sip, feeling the remembered fizz on his tongue.
“Th-thank you.”

At last, space to work. The Plant Doctor lady was out in the hall guarding her pots and computer — emphasis on the pots — leaving him and Rory alone in the soggy office.
Now if they could just isolate the leak…
Rory made a strange sound behind him, like when Quincy had stuck an entire earaser in his mouth thinking it was pink taffy. But– no. When Leo turned around he found Rory looking in a mirror and…laughing? Or at least that’s what he would be doing if the kid weren’t trying to cover it, making himself sound very much like a choking 5 year old indeed.
Leo chuckled and turned back to removing the seeping ceiling splotch with a shake of his head. Let the boy laugh. Sounded like he needed the practice.
A cup of tea is cheaper than therapy.
Just gotta say, I love Quincy and Leo. Their dynamic is precious.

Ryla stopped as she heard loud chatter. Maybe if she just stood against the wall and stared at the floor people wouldn’t notice her. Suddenly a boy shrieked and fell over her foot. Ryla started. The boy looked up at her.
“The floor… What a great place to delve in the deep depths of sorrow and ponder unanswered questions,” he remarked. What in the world did that mean? Perhaps he had gotten a concussion.
She turned to the other boy. “Do you think he hit his head?”

Navin gave his brother a frown of pure disappointment then looked at the girl upon hearing her question. “Yeah, he hits his head… a lot.”
Maverick suddenly sat upright and snatched his hat off the floor. He shoved it over his head and stood. For a second he said nothing, but then he gasped, making Navin jump in fright.
“Do you eat strawberry leaves?” Maverick asked accusingly, pointing at the girl.

The look on the face of the other boy told Ryla that this was not an isolated incident. Suddenly the boy on the floor grabbed his hat and leapt to his feet. Startled, Ryla fell into the wall.
The boy pointed at her. “Do you eat strawberry leaves?”
Ryla hugged her bag closer. “No?” Was that wrong? What was a strawberry? “Who are you?”

Maverick tipped the hat on his head, his feet staying statue-like despite Navin’s attempt to pull him away from the girl. He also ignored the stars blinking in his eyes from standing too fast.
“I’m Maverick Nalvailro. Or you can call me Grover, but I usually only tell people my name is Grover if I don’t like them. Who’re you?”

“Of course.”
Felicity smiled at Chase. She then sat down, leaning her back against the wall, and took a sip of her drink.
“I think every student needs the occasional break from class to go get a free treat. It raises your spirits and therefore raises your grades. Probably. Granted, I’ve done this two out of the three days I’ve been here, and I’m not exactly a model student.”
She looked over at Chase again with a half grin. “What do you think? Maybe the first half of my theory is right. Are your spirits raised?”
