Dante
“Oh. It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. I just wasn’t expecting to stay here this long. Speaking of, I was just swinging by to grab a couple things…”
He went to his bed and began moving things around, looking. He paused after lifting up his pillow.
“Um. Alpha? Is there a reason you put all this money here?”

Alpha
“I heard a child talking about this culture doing something like that. Weird custom, isn’t it? I don’t see any practical purpose.”

May 19, 2024 at 12:01 am #179748I actually swiftly painted a canvas this afternoon at a birthday party, and plan to make paper wings to glue to it. If I burn or paint the edges a darker color, it should look pretty 😛
Marz
“I have to guess you’re talking to the dragon,” Marcel said. “But whatever you find cool, thanks.”
He picked up the purple bear and walked it along the edge of the table, thoughtfully. “I think your bear is cool.”

“…Huh. Weird.”
Dante gave Alpha a look and scooped the money into his pocket. Then he lifted up the mattress.
“Ah, there it is.” He pulled out a small, odd looking radio with far too many switches and dials. He stuffed this in his pocket as well and turned to walk to the door. He patted Alpha on the arm as he walked past.
“Well, I’ll see you around, roomie. Good luck with your sister. And that cut. I’m gonna go climb a tall building.”
(Sorry he’s leaving so fast. He can’t really keep still for more than three minutes. Alpha is welcome to stop him with questions or go with him or just let him leave or whatever you want)
Oo that sounds pretty. You should send a picture when you’re done :]
Ells
Ellie ducked her head and smiled.
“Thanks.”
They fell into silence again, but now Ellie was comfortable in it. She swung her legs back and forth, thinking.
“The first thing I learned to fold was a bird,” she said. “Ed and I used to make them and write notes for each other under the wings.”

May 19, 2024 at 8:46 am #179756Actually, Alpha loves climbing buildings, and trees, so I think he’ll tag along.
Alpha
“Really? Let me grab my climbing stuff and I’ll join you,” Alpha declared as he pulled a black shirt over his head. Alpha pulled out four things from his belongings, two he clipped to his wrists, and the other two were knives that he strapped to his upper arms. “And don’t criticize me about getting active when I’ve just gotten injured, I’ve heard every argument under the three Realn suns already from Nar. Stars!” Alpha facepalmed. “Why can’t I keep my mind of my sister! Augh!” In Alpha’s frustration, his hands glowed softly white. “Forget I said that. Let’s just…leave.”
Alpha locked their door behind them, tossing the keys to Dante.
“By the way, what kind of alienus are you?”

Ok, awesome!
Hallie
Hallie blinked a few times, the awkwardness of the moment sinking in. Her cheeks burned as she took a step back. “Oh, I guess… Well… um, thanks?” She forced a chuckle. Top hat? She mentally scrambled for something else to say, but nothing came to mind. Relief shone on her expression as Easton came strolling behind her, as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening.
“I was just looking for you Hallie,” Easton said with a glance towards the young man. “What’s going on?”
“Um, he was just giving me some fashion advice.” She smiled at the boy, then turned and mouthed thank you to her brother. He shot her a wink. She knew Easton’s question was asking about her behavior more than what was actually going on at the moment, but she also knew Easton would never back her into a corner to confess in front of a complete stranger.
“Well thank you, sir.” Easton stuck out a hand. “My name’s Easton. This is my sister Hallie.”

“Teinin. What about you? You’re not human, are you?”

“Eesh.” Alpha ran his hand through his hair again. “You had to ask the hard question. No, I only have a sliver of Wondian elf and human in me. It’s actually where I get my face and a couple other body features. I was given the blood of Grathmere,” as he said the name, his voice rubbled like thunder, and he spit to the side in disgust. “to give me abilities like no other being. As I grow older, I will not wither, I will grow stronger until knives can’t hurt me and just to look upon my face will mean death. That is, if the Grath doesn’t kill me first. Other than that though, we can’t be sure. 45% percent of what makes up my DNA is unknown.” Alpha snorted. “Ain’t it a joy being a Lab Child?”

“Huh.” A lab experiment. The whole no needles rule was starting to make sense now.
Dante stopped walking in the middle of the parking lot and spun in a slow circle. He was scanning the buildings surrounding them, looking for the right one. He paused, looking in the direction of the school.
“Of course,” he muttered. It was the tallest building within walking distance, looked easy to climb, and he knew now from experience that its security was nearly nonexistent.
Spinning the key ring Alpha had given him on one finger, he pointed with the other hand at the school.
“There. It looks tall enough to get a decent signal. We just need to try to not get caught.”
(Too lazy to create a new setting for them lol)

A mischievous grin crossed Alpha’s face.
“We can’t get in trouble if no one sees us, right?” Alpha fished in his pockets muttering to himself in some language. He pulled out two objects as thick as a slice of bread and as big as a quarter. It was white at first, but shifted and changed color as Alpha held them in his hand. The center glowed green, making it almost look like a futuristic thumbprint cookie. “Press the center and hold for a couple seconds. Once it buzzes, stop. And if you don’t give this back afterwards, I’ll take it by force. My little brother made these.” He handed one to Dante. “I use it every once in a while, but it doesn’t mask thermal signatures, or any other signature, so it’s useless to me most the time. But I like them in my pocket anyways.” Alpha set it on his forearm, pressing on the green piece until it buzzed. Then suddenly, he disappeared from sight. “It’ll glitch every once in a while, but it’s not bad, it just looks like a computer glitch. I mean, You still have to give credit to Nathan, he was I think thirteen when he made these. Oh, and you might feel a tingling sensation at first, but it’ll go away.”
Once Dante puts that thingy on, he should be able to see Alpha.

Dante blinked and stared blankly as Alpha disappeared from view. Then, slowly, an excited grin spread across his face. He put the device on his arm and pressed it
The climb was easy. Claws scratching and gripping at bricks, Dante scurried up quickly, Alpha close behind. The closest they got to being spotted was the occasional passerby who would squint confusedly in their direction for a moment, before shaking their head and continuing on their way.
At the top, Dante wrapped himself around a flagpole to keep from sliding off. He pulled out his radio and flipped a switch. An antenna extended out the top with a small disk on the end that looked like a satellite dish. Then Dante turned a dial and static crackled out of the speaker. Then he slowly turned a different dial and began to tune it. As he did, the dish at the top turned and swiveled in various directions.
There was static. Then a talk show. Then static. A commercial for a used spacecraft dealership. More static. The beginning of a punk rock song. Dante grumbled in frustration and twisted the dial further.
