                      Calligripho

While his new friends got passive agressive, Inky stared at his bowl. It was strange what these people thought edible. It appeared to be semi-solid, yellowing dairy product, streaked with a brown substance looking suspiciously like fertilizer, and topped with a cherry-like object that appeared to be made of that new material he was seeing so often: plastic. In addition, oddly shaped objects a rich brown in color dotted the structure. Calligripho poked various parts here and there with his spoon. He didn’t like to eat it if he didn’t know what it was.

Even the name sounded suspicious: Moose Tracks. Who eats where a giant quadruped stepped? It was all too confusing.

And so, as he did whenever something confused him (and when it didn’t, for that matter), Inky opened his tome to a fresh page and wrote down everything he could about it.

He hadn’t half finished when the nib of his goose-quill pen snapped. Ink spurted onto Calligripho’s face, giving him the appearance of a boy with black freckles on top of his brown ones.

It didn’t land only on him, however. A generous drop landed right on the tip of the small, overdressed boy’s nose.

                      *Ā  *Ā  *

Chocolate was introduced to the Europeans during the renaissance, which hasn’t happened in my story. He might take a while to get used to it.

Yeah it is. Sorry, I was wrong about that part.

                                @calyhuge @whalekeeper

Hugo was about to continue, but then he saw Seb balancing a spoon on his tongue.

                                XD oh no heā€™s broken

(Imma just assume this place has normal food as well as desserts cuz Danteā€™s hungry)

                                Dante

Dante had ordered ā€œFrench friesā€. He wasnā€™t sure what they were, but they tasted warm and salty, and, most importantly, they filled his growling stomach.

He tossed a few in his mouth as Hugo talked. Cal poked suspiciously at his ice cream.

ā€œSo what do you two intend to study at the school? You both look incredibly smart, I must say.ā€

Dante looked surprised, then leaned back in his chair and smirked.

                                ā€œSmart? Incredibly?I donā€™t get that very often.ā€

He was already forming a lie in his head to answer the question when he heard a small snap. He looked over to see ink splattered all over Calligraphoā€™s book, hand, and face. His thick glasses made his already wide eyes look comically huge. He sat completely frozen, stunned.

There was a short, still silence at the table. Then Danteā€™s shoulders began to shake. He couldnā€™t hold back his laughter. He doubled over the table, resting his forehead in one hand. He then slowly slid a napkin over to Calligrapho as he tried to get his laughter under control.

ā€œYouā€™re really living up to your nickname now, Inky.ā€
