Since this conversation with the queen seems doomed to failure, maybe the queen should have them go to the dinner once they get Ottoline back. Then she can explain what they have to do during the meal.

Ottoline
Ottoline took one look at the enraged Queen, and decided she didn’t want to stick around.
She fitted her bow and quiver over her back and ran.
Her heart skipped a beat when she heard footsteps running after her.
No, no no no no! Panic shot through her. I’m never going back… The footsteps quickened. Flashbacks burned their way into her eyes, memories that she did not want to remember. Ever.
She darted between trees, between rocks, jumping over fallen logs, yet her pursuer showed no signs of stopping. She was sprinting now. Her feet flew over the dirt, her hair waved behind her like a banner, and her blood roared in her ears.
And then her foot caught on a tree root.
With a gasp, she tumbled head over heels several feet, sprawling on the ground. She heard the footsteps slow, then approach. She curled into a fetal position, trembling. Please don’t hurt me, I’m sorry, it was useless to run…I should have let you hurt me then so you wouldn’t hurt me worse now…She realized that she was crying, her tears wetting the ground, but she didn’t care.
“Are you alright?” the voice sounded concerned, not at all like the Pythonos…she dared to open one eye. It was a man, a little over 6 feet tall (sorry if I got his height wrong, too lazy to check lol). In his hand, he weilded a sword that glowed green in his hands…
A sword.
She took one look at that ghastly blade, appearing to be wrought of nothing but evil, and screamed.

Quick question: how many of the characters have experience in warfare? So far I think I counted Ottoline, Ellis, Nayhim… and I think there were others but I don’t remember who. That might be important to know exactly who has experience and who doesn’t. Kari has no experience btw.

“Hey!” she flinched as he stood over her and yelled. He was mad, she was doomed, he was going to beat her and call her names…”I’m trying to help!”
How could hurting me help me? She stopped screaming and curled up in a ball in the dirt, waiting for the blow, waiting for the feeling of cold metal slicing through her flesh.
She wondered what death would feel like. She had come close many times…but Jraldath made sure she never died. He made sure that she felt, very distinctly, every bit of pain he did to her.
And she was sure this time would be no different.

She finally stopped screaming.
”Look,” said Ellis, “we’re in the same boat. I just want to get back home. I don’t like this queen person either, but that was completely reckless.”
She was still cowering.
”I’m not going to hurt you,” he sighed, “In fact I’m here to make sure nobody else does. You just offended an extremely powerful person.”
