Ellis instinctively drew his sword as the arrow was blasted out of the air. He glanced around. It hadn’t been Kaine. The girl with the bow was gone. “I hate to say it, your majesty,” said Ellis, “but you had that coming.”
Ellis turned and ran. He didn’t know what would happen if the Queen found the girl first, but he wasn’t taking any chances. She had acted recklessly, but he didn’t like the Queen either. Conviction burst with green light. The power strengthened his legs and let him run faster. He sped away.
