His headache is probably better, because I think it’s been a day or so since the scene with the fire.

@beth-torres The Cat is not happy that she didn’t get to eat the creature
The Cat
Unthinkable! The Cat steamed. That little upstart of a kitten burnt the creature! I must certainly teach him some manners. The senior cat eats first, everyone knows that! The Cat held her haughty head high, switched her silky, sassy tail, and sniffed. She sauntered up to the girl called Carrie who was, ironically, carrying the offending kitten. She glared at the girl. It was her fault, obviously.
@rae @jonas here’s my other charries (btw, what time is it? I feel like it’s night)Katonia
We’d made a hard trek during the day. Riding relentlessly, we must have covered over twenty miles. We followed the trail clearly left by the others until sundown.
While we were sitting around the campfire, Rocky pulled out some strange, long red things, pierced them on sticks, and gave the sticks to us. “What is it?” I asked.
Rocky chuckled through his long red mustache. (I forgot to say he has a mustache. Only facial hair. His head hair is under his hat all the time) “It’s chow, that’s what it is. We call ’em ‘hot dogs’. They’re made of meat.”
Brian’s face screwed up as he chewed. “This dog must have had worms. It’s wet and chewy.”
Rocky chuckled again and I rolled my eyes. “It’s not really a dog,” Rocky explained, “at least as far as I know. And you have to cook it first. Watch:” He held his stick over the flames.
I watched it. After a moment it began sizzling and turning darker. A few moments more, and Rocky withdrew it from the fire. He took a bite and grinned. “Yup. That’s how you do it.”
Brian and I copied him as best we could, and dinner was hot that night. Whatever kind of meat it was.
We tethered the elk to trees and prepared to bed down next to the fire. I had just gathered a nice pile of pine greens for a soft bed when a twig snapped in the woods. All three of us froze. “Looks like we’re about to meet our first critter,” commented Rocky, as he laid his hands casually on his gleaming silver guns.

Anyone want to make a “critter” for them to fight?
December 3, 2023 at 9:32 pm #168130Yeah, it can be night. I was already thinking that the next scene should be the main group camping for the night.
I don’t have any “critter” ideas, but it could just be a wolf or something if you want.

Carrie
I glanced at the Cat glaring at me.
“How may I help you?” I asked nonchalantly while Fire Face played with my necklace.
The Cat didn’t look happy, I just wanted to make sure she had nothing against Fire Face, nothing happened as far as I knew that was his fault.

December 3, 2023 at 9:47 pm #168137@beth-torres I don’t think they do, but I think it was riding an elk on its own, so they must know it’s more intelligent than a normal cat.

December 3, 2023 at 10:24 pm #168139Would ya charries like to meet a good ol’ mormaka, downscaled?
Imagine a heat hating, ice hating monster with highly acidic saliva, large teeth, horny head (kinda like a bewilderbeast from httyd, just a little different) the approx body shape of a triceratopsian, but with three large claws on it’s feet. Long, strong tail with a knobby thing on the end (like that dinosaur, anklosaur? I think) that can shoot a rope thing (unlike any dino I know). It has a hideous roar, that resembles the words, “Who dares?” They also have large, glowing eyes. They don’t like daytime, and on the home system of Danoo, they mostly spend time underground, but at night, they may prowl.
They usually are large, but we’ll make this one smaller, elk size maybe? You may decide.
They freak Nahim out, mainly cuz they are the cause of him getting that scar on his head, a crushed shoulder (the joint had to be replaced) and a few other injuries. That’s actually where he got his crystal sword, from a mormaka den. Basically, his enemy threw him into a mormaka den so Nahim would die. Didn’t work.
Fun fact: I gave my best friend a nightmare with my mormaka, and she thinks she got eaten. I’ll never forget when she said,
“Your stupid mormaka got in my dreams!”
For some reason, I was very pleased.

Pain.
With every pulse of her blood, her head ached. Her shoulder throbbed with pain so deep that she felt herself slipping away….She didn’t want to wake up…she didn’t want to feel the pain anymore….
And suddenly, it wasn’t there anymore.
Her eyes fluttered open to reveal a number of concerned faces.
“What? Huh?” she looked around. “What happened?” she wrinkled her forehead in confusion.

Yes, but even though its days after, my research says with a severe TBI, and not resting, he would be seeing months of symptoms. Apparently, veterans often take longer to recover TBI’s than civilians. Needless to say, Nahim is still fighting.
Why am I always such a realist perfectionist?

“Oh,” she frowned. “I’ll live.” she shrugged. “I’ve been through worse.” She laughed as if a joke, but several people looked at her with concerned expressions on their faces.
