Cool! I live in the Midwest, but I’ve never seen an elk.
A disturbingly short time ago, in a land uncomfortably close by...
December 1, 2023 at 8:23 pm #167785Yeah we saw the elk when we were in the Grand Tetons. A couple moose, too, which was cool. No grizzly bears though, sadly.

December 1, 2023 at 9:20 pm #167801I’ve seen a moose once. And I think I’ve seen an elk.
But I know my dad has. He hunts them, sometimes.

LEFSE FOREVER!!!!!! <333December 1, 2023 at 10:02 pm #167811I’ve seen a stuffed grizzly bear, polar bear, black bear, and moose, does that count? They weren’t toys, they were museum exhibits.

@rae @savannah_grace2009 @beth-torres @jonas @trailblazer (I think that’s everyone I need to ping)
SO since I was away for a VERY long time (I was writing my actual story), I’m going to fast-forward a little bit.
Let’s just say that sum stoof happaned and Styx got away and is hiding, waiting for revenge. The Cat is sticking with Fire-Face and they’re on a highly distressed elk that The Cat forced into letting them ride on it. Kate and Brian, you’ll see.
Also I heard someone say “western” so I’ll put in Simon “Rocky” Johnson, a 40-something texan sheriff from 18 something. He’s got two revolvers (if no one wants that they can be crossbows) and a polite, no-nonsense disposition (actually haven’t developed him at all so this will help).
Katonia
Styx was gone. That wasn’t the last we’d seen of him, I was sure. But not only was he gone, but everyone else was too. We were told they had traveled into the woods to fight dragons. How dragons lived in the woods I had no clue, but lots of horrible things lived in the woods back home.
Brian was the one who caught the elk. We were standing outside the castle, trying to decide what to do and where to go when out of the forest bounded a herd of many-colored elk. They ran straight towards us, and we had to get out of the way, only Brian was a bit slow on the draw, as they say. He tripped, in turn tripped up two elk, who fell, bawling, on top of him.
“Well, that’s one way to do it,” said a strange voice. I looked up to see a middle-aged man in a wide-brimmed hat seated on a saddled and bridled elk of his own. His clothing was stranger still — but I won’t get into that. He tossed down two saddles and some stringy leather bits.
Brian got up. “Who are you? And what are we supposed to do with this stuff?” He put his hand on his sword hilt.
“Name’s Simon Johnson, but y’all can call me “Rocky”. I’m here to help with them pesky critters in the forest. And that stuff, son, is what you put on the elk so you can ride it.”
“It’s not a horse.”
“Pretty muchly the same difference, son. You got any provisions?”
“Not much. We literally fell from the sky into this world. We just want to get home.”
“Welp, I hear elk makes good eatin’. As for gettin’ home, that’ll have to come later.”
This guy was straight and to the point. I liked him. After some grumbling from Brian about “mismatched proportions” and “different animals”, he got both elk, who weren’t completely tame yet, saddled and bridled. Then he cupped his hands and knelt beside one. “Your mount awaits, Princess.”
I rolled my eyes, and stepped up. Side-saddle, of course. I still had my satchel, with the empty jar, the rope, the healing stone (which had done its work beautifully), and the little food we had in it.
Rocky tipped his hat when we were all seated, let out with a great “Yeeee-haaaw!” and away we went.
I only hoped we would catch up with the main group before things turned ugly.

Annnnnnnnnd, since pictures work again, here’s Katonia’s spread-collage-meme-thingy (thanks for the idea @rae)
It’s not that good but it’s the best I got of Kate

@rae wow not expecting that reaction, but ok! Glad you like him!
His nickname comes from when he was a rookie and he stepped off the train into the town he was going to be the sheriff of. A bad guy’s waiting on the platform and says “what do they call you?” Simon Johnson says “the other officers call me rookie” and the bad guy says “ok, Rocky, you got until the count of three to get out of my town or else” and that’s as far as I’ve gotten XD
So this is basically how I’ll develop him I hope it works XD
December 1, 2023 at 10:28 pm #167828December 1, 2023 at 10:34 pm #167832I can’t believe you didn’t expect that reaction! His accent and slang is cheff’s kiss, his personality funny yet has an underline of seriousness. He’s just…GREAT!

#AnduthForever (hopefully 💕)December 2, 2023 at 7:39 am #167837Vethe has a gun. (Oh yeah, she’s stalking the group on a stolen elk, I forgot about that 👀)

@rae I was not expecting the reaction because Rocky is so stereotypical Western hero 🫲🫤🫱
December 2, 2023 at 9:01 am #167844Are you kidding me! Everyone loves stereotypes! jk, I don’t like love triangle girls.
I think I like him so much cuz he reminds me of a character I have for Igua, Cloak turned Hero, who’s an old knight in rusty armor that is the Peaceful Valley sheriff. IDK why Rocky reminds me of him, since they’re kinda different on many ways but he’s just…idk, my brain forgot how to say it in English so this sentence must remain unfinished for the moment.

#AnduthForever (hopefully 💕)December 2, 2023 at 9:04 am #167845Ugh, love-triangles, don’t even get me started. But you know what’s even worse than a love-triangle? The love-pyramid 🤢
