I think it’s called the tree.

No idea. I know nothing about horses, lol.
Sword Quiz!
What’s the thing that attaches the sheath to your belt called?
If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.

November 28, 2023 at 8:47 am #167279The tree is the base of the saddle. Western saddle trees are made out of wood, and English saddles are made out of plastic/synthetic materials so they’re considerably lighter.
Technically a tree does go over the withers, but it goes over the horse’s back too. So if you want to be more specific it’s called the gullet.

#AnduthForever (hopefully💕)November 28, 2023 at 8:50 am #167284It’s called a sword frog. Apparently some guy at some time thought it was a cool sounding name lol.

November 28, 2023 at 8:51 am #167285HEYY there’s a part of a violin bow called a frog. And a part of a horse’s hoof called a frog.
I guess people just think the word “frog” is cool.

November 28, 2023 at 8:52 am #167286I don’t know why, but Rainier strikes me as a funny name for some reason. Love it!
I thought it would be appropriate to name an elk after a mountain, and I almost went with Shuksan, then realized Kari wouldn’t know about that mountain (since most people don’t). So Rainier it is!
The only parts of a sword I know are the blade, the handle, and the sheath… lol. It never even occurred to me that the specific parts have names.
