I am contemplating a transition…

Fennin
Fennin mounted his elk, Oakheart, with the rest of the guests. He looked back at his mother, standing by the palace fountain, with streams of blue just being wiped from her face. How she had begged him not to go. Now, she strode forward and kissed him good-bye as he leaned down in his saddle. She whispered something in Lillening to him, before stepping back into her crowd of servants.
Tren nudged his elk, Goldenrise, gently in the sides and brought him almost level with Oakheart.
“Are you ready to go, my Prince.”
“Forget formalities, Tren. Yes.” He nudged Oakheart on, calling the guests to do the same.
They were finally on their way.
Your charries can name their elk, and their elk are like the extinct Irish elk in size, or like that of Thranduil’s steed in the Hobbit movies. If your charries don’t know how to ride, don’t worry. Nahim, Fennin, Tren, and Nora do at least, so I think a few beginner’s riding lessons would have taken place (would have mentioned it before transition but I didn’t think about it). Also, they are in properly fitted tack, with bitless bridles, meaning they are less likely to hurt their elk and led likely to fall off with the saddle. The saddle does have a saddle horn. They are also riding older elk who’ve seen it all and don’t usually let beginners fall. Unless your new-to-riding charries go galloping or jumping, they should be fine.
The color of the elk is up to u. Oakheart is a brown base coat but has the tips of his fur almost like a green. Goldenrise his yellow-colored.

November 27, 2023 at 9:58 am #167112I would hold the saddle horn for a trot or canter though. You’re gonna all get peppered with horse stuf and riding terms, tips, and tricks. BTW, cantering is the best!

November 27, 2023 at 10:00 am #167113I’m also gonna mention it’s more Western style than English, so if I mess up and I say something that isn’t in Western, @savannah_grace2009 please correct me.

They were finally on their way.
Ellis sat atop his dark elk, Shadowstep. He had never ridden an elk before, but he could ride a horse. How different could it be?
Ah, said Conviction. Doesn’t it feel good to get out of that cramped, ugly, smoky, charred palace and get on the road towards certain doom?
“Very optimistic,” said Ellis.
I know! said the sword. I’m assuming you even reach the certain doom without having another fight and killing each other! I’m very optimistic.
Ellis sighed.
What? said Conviction. You don’t appreciate my sense of humor?
“I’d appreciate it more,” said Ellis. “If it wasn’t such dark humor.”
Ooh, I know loads of good jokes! They’re not dark at all! Wanna here some? Okay, so a guy walks into a bar…
Ellis sighed again. This trip was going to be torture.

November 27, 2023 at 11:52 am #167128November 27, 2023 at 12:03 pm #167129Nahim
This was like riding Leavar back home, though Leavar have less of barrels for stomachs. Oh! And elk don’t cover you in flammable slime! Nahim smiled, patting his elk and digging his fingers into it’s thick black and silver fur. He talked to it gently in Realn, the fair language rolling off his tongue with a heavy Nayhelmic accent.
He chose the name Dathaln, Black Conqueror.
He would bond with this elk like he had bonded with Knight, to the point where Nahim was master yet friend.
He pulled up beside Nora.
“Chosen a name yet?” Nora looked at him and then the reddish brown and white markings of her ride.
“Rocky sound good?” Nahim shrugged. Nora sighed. “I’ll work on it.”

Kate had never ridden an elk before. She barely even knew how to ride a horse. She frowned down at the light gray creature beneath her.
You should name it, Bloodsong said. Maybe you’ll like it better then.
Kate ignored the sword.
Come on, said Bloodsong. Don’t be so glum! Give it a name. It’s so cute!
“Shut up,” muttered Kate.
Alright, I’ll start coming up with ideas! said Bloodsong.
“No!” snapped Kate. “Just…just stop!”
Whitey, Frosty, Dusty—
“Those are all terrible names.”
I don’t see you offering any suggestions. Clippy, Cloppy, Snippy, Snoppy…
“What? What do those have to do with—?”
Agubag, Kagawaga, Quax—
“Those aren’t even words!” Kate snapped.
Most names aren’t real words, silly! How about Smilky?
“Whatever. Just shut up!”
Yay! That wasn’t so hard now, was it?
“Still a terrible name,” Kate muttered under her breath.

November 27, 2023 at 2:03 pm #167166For some reason, I can’t see Zahlin riding an elk, only a large, black war horse.
