Zahlin
Zahlin could hardly see through all the smoke. He almost crashed into Ellis.
”I don’t know where anyone else is,” He coughed, “Did Kate ever come back from getting Fennin?”
Any noun can become a verb if you don't care enough.

”No, she didn’t,” said Ellis. “That’s…not good. Get everyone you can out of here. I’m going to find them.”

———
“Hugo!”
He ran.
“Hugo!”
He continued to run.
The heat of the flames burned his face, but he still ran.
“This is my punishment,” He thought, darting into a small gap into the castle. There were more flames than he imagined. They were devouring the wood and blocking all the other exits.
It was to late to go back now.
Hugo stumbled over to a place where he heard someone screaming and grabbed them by their hand and led them to the opening, ignoring the burning heat on his flesh.
When they were safely outside he turned back and went deeper in.
He tired to take a deep breath, but choked and gasped. He was pretty sure his hair was badly singed.
The roof and walls began to vibrate. Hugo looked upward and bolted to the entrance. “OH NO!” Part of the wall, his exit, had caved in.
A swear word flew out of his mouth before he could stop it and he grabbed the red hot wood and tried to pry it away. It was no use. He was trapped. He was going to die.

November 23, 2023 at 7:36 pm #166370HUGO!!!! WHY???????????????????? YOU LEFT OTTOLINE!!!!!!
Ottoline
She fell to her knees in the grass, crying hysterically. It was all too much. Too much.
What if he-
What if Marcurious can’t save him?
What if-
She closed her eyes against the tears and pressed the heels of her hands against her eyes. Hugo meant so much to her. She couldn’t lose him now.
Marcurious
He closed his eyes and imagined a dragon, launching up into the sky with a terrifying roar. He just hoped the Lillingens wouldn’t shoot at him before he could save Hugo. He loved Ottoline like a little sister, and he could see in her eyes how scared she was, how important Hugo was to her.
He steeled his will and rammed into the blocked entrance. The heat burned his eyes, but his scales protected him. He strained to make out any life between the dancing flames, and then he saw him.
The boy was lying amidst the smoke, unconscious. Marcurious cursed, which in Dragon-speech sounded more like a roar, and he picked Hugo up in his claws, dragging him out of the building, soaring above the hungry flames.

Hugo
——
He began to choke. This was the end. He was sure of it.
Darkness flickered past his eyes. “No!” he didnt want to die… He wanted to say goodbye to Ottoline and tell her how much she meant to him…
“Cough! Choke!” He couldn’t last much longer…. A hot stick dropped onto his head. Man, his luck never, ever, stopped being bad.
This was it…. All faded to darkness.
When Hugos eyes opened he was…. alive? On the grass with a relived and angry looking Ottoline standing above him and another person next to her.
“Do I still have my eyebrows?” He muttered.

November 23, 2023 at 7:57 pm #166373Goodnight!
Ottoline
She squeezed her eyes shut. All she heard was the screams of agony, the roaring flames, the sounds of the building collapsing.
And then she heard the flapping of dragon wings.
And someone walking towards her.
“Happy now?” she heard Marcurious’s voice above her. Her eyes flashed open, and she saw Marcurious standing over an unconscious Hugo. His face was burned, blistered, bruised…tears streamed down her face, washing the dirt from Hugo’s cheeks as they rained down.
She took his hand and held it close. “Thank you,” she whispered through her tears. Marcurious knelt down beside her and put his arm around her.
“He’s gonna be okay,” she leaned her head on his shoulder.
“I was so scared-” she sobbed.
“Hey,” Marcurious looked at her, “I always got your back, little sis’.”
Then Hugo’s eyes fluttered open.
“Do I still have my eyebrows?” he groaned. Ottoline rolled her eyes as more tears spilled down her face. He was still the same Hugo. He was alive.

LEFSE FOREVER!!!!!! <333November 23, 2023 at 8:08 pm #166374Nahim
Cradling the almost dead Queen, Nahim dashed through the halls looking for anywhere where he could let her rest. After running up stairs and down halls, he found what appeared to be a spare bedroom. He laid Queen Silvae on the bed and did his best to tend to her wound, but he never was good at that sort of thing. He had to find Nora, and Fennin. Nora first.
He commed her, telling her where to go from the hall whee they had last seen each other, and telling her use her jetpack, not sparing the fuel. With that, he ran down to where the fire blazed, finding Lillenings trying to put out the fire, and others leaving.
It was twenty minutes before he found Fennin.
“Fennin! Fennin!” He ran through the flames, not feeling any heat. The prince turned.
“Nahim! What’s the matter?”
“Your mother… I need you come with me right now.”
“Why?”
“She was stabbed, they tried to kill her. She’s alive, but… You should be there.” Fennin was shocked. He followed Nahim through the palace, to a place not invaded by fire and smoke. Nora was with his mother, and he went immediately to hi mother’s side. Nahim didn’t wait any longer, he ran off again, his head throbbed so he could barely think again from all his running.
He ran through the flames, pulling away anyone he could, putting out fires any way possible. With the help of the Lillenings and Snake, who apparently was extremely good at being a fire fighter, the flames were quenched, leaving one section of the palace burned badly. Thankfully, the fire had not spread to the other sections.
Nahim leaned against the wall of the untouched section, his body was done, but he wouldn’t leave until he knew that everyone was safe…and that the villains had left the palace.

#AnduthForever (hopefully 💕)November 23, 2023 at 8:11 pm #166375The fire is out…and now one of your charries has to ask Nahim if he’s okay, then he’ll probably say he is, get up, grow dizzy and fall over. Then he’ll admit he needs to go rest…I have it all figured out.
When can we start the quest? It makes me cry to think that part of the Lillen palace burned, and I don’t want to see it again until it’s in full glory again…though we still have to flush out the villains.

#AnduthForever (hopefully 💕)November 23, 2023 at 9:21 pm #166377Hang on! I think some of our characters were still dealing with the fire. Can we wait a bit before we just end this scene?

Katonia
A few minutes earlier…
Foolhardy Brian. He’s not even foolhardy most of the time, but I guess when he’s confused he’s… well, confused.
But anyway, we rushed down the hall. I don’t understand what happened next. We rounded a corner, just as the roof broke and a long something dropped in. Not long for a serpent, long for a person. It looked like a person, but in proportions it was more like… a snake. It hissed something cruel-sounding, and, without even looking at us, flared his wings, throwing Brian against the wall. Brian could have at least got out of the way. The snake guy, probably assuming he was dead (foolish), ignored him. I hid in a doorway and watched. The snake guy proceeded to breathe ice, extinguishing the fire. Talk about weird priorities.
Present time…
“First order of business: Find the person in charge and figure out what’s going on and why we’re here,” Brian said, as we walked down the charred hall, checking bodies. Most were only burned, and would survive with proper medical attention. A few leeches here and there should do the trick. Some… dead from knife wounds, blows to the head, slit throats. “We came too late to help, that’s for sure.” Brian picked up and inspected a melting ice ball. He gave it to a soldier with a singed face to cool his burn. “Second order of business: Figure out how we can help, if we can help.”
I pointed. “I think the first order is complete.”
An older boy with strange clothing sat against a less burnt part of the wall, cradling and unconscious woman.
“If I’m not mistaken, that’s a queen if I ever saw one,” I continued. “And a nearly-dead one at that.”
“I’ve seen a lot of dead queens. Never one that needed saving,” Brian remarked as he hustled over. “Hey, sir, who’s in charge here?”
“Ahem,” I cleared my throat. “I think he means to say, ‘what can we do to help?'”

November 23, 2023 at 9:29 pm #166381You mean the first ever post in this RP?
Yeah, that’s been the subject of many jokes!

📚 Appreciator of BooksNovember 23, 2023 at 9:31 pm #166382To continue what I was saying, can we just let this wrap up naturally, instead of just saying the fire’s out? A lot of our characters were struggling against it, so I don’t want to just end that abruptly. I felt like we were really rushing through this whole scene.

@jonas (yes I got your tag right this time)
What if we said the fire was just mostly contained? We could say that it’s still burning with the possibility of breaking out of control again, and the people struggling in the fire are still in it.
Or we could say that @rae ‘s post is a few hours in the future. I imagine daytime with that post, so I would say that the fire being out in the morning would be symbolic and fitting. Just some noob ideas
