That’s fine, just pretend Nahim didn’t ask.
When we put that last RP of Nahim’s in the docs, we need to remember to delete his question.

November 19, 2023 at 6:42 pm #165477Oh no you don’t have to! I can try and come up with something, I already have a few ideas that I’ve gotten over the past hour. I just hope they don’t sound dumb. Lol.

“I’m not sure how I can learn,” she bit her lip. “It will be really hard for me…and I’m not sure if you picked the right person to train, I’m pretty slow.”

I tried not to look confused as he spoke the names. I just hoped I didn’t have to pronounce any of those words, they sounded quite magnificent, but I couldn’t if I had tried.
“I’m from L’dalon, I live on the continent of Kadel, it’s pretty much deserted, very few towns. ” I explained while I stopped Fire Face from climbing up my shoulder.

“You think I just wanted to pick the person I could train fastest?” said Ellis. “Look at it the other way around: you got the best person to train you.” He patted her on the shoulder. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go check on my friend.”

Ellis left the room in the direction Kate had gone. Outside in the hall, he found Bloodsong discarded on the ground. He sighed, picking the sword up and hanging the sheath on his back.
She threw me on the floor! said Bloodsong indignantly. All I was doing was explaining everything she said wrong back there! She has no tolerance for constructive criticism.
Ellis glanced down at Conviction, warning his own sword not to comment–the only thing worse than a talking sword was two talking swords having a conversation.
Ellis found Kate sitting against the wall, crying softly. He hesitated. Why did he have to be responsible for comforting so many people?
He knelt down beside her. “You okay?”
She glared at him. “What does it look like?” she snapped.
Ellis set Bloodsong down on the ground beside her. Kate glared at the sword and kicked it a few feet away. Bloodsong made cried out indignantly.
Ellis didn’t know what to say to her, so they sat in silence.
“Why do you keep fighting with Nora?” he asked finally.
“Ask her,” snapped Kate.
“She seems like a decent person, Kate,” Ellis said. “You shouldn’t make assumptions about people.”
“I didn’t make any assumptions!” retorted Kate. “All the conclusions I’ve come to about her are perfectly evident to any person with half a brain!”
“And what conclusions are those?”
“That she’s an arrogant, self-aggrandizing jerk who wants everything her way! She treats me like a child even though we’re the same age! She dismissed everything I’ve been through–oh, she’s been through so much more, and I’m such a child compared to her! It all has to come back to her. She’s so condescending! She thinks I’m a simpleton, and she has me all figured out, never mind that we met two days ago!”
Kate finally subsided.
“Well,” said Ellis. “You seem to be doing the same thing to her.”
“What?” said Kate.
“You think you have her all figured out.”
“But–” Kate protested, but Ellis interrupted.
“You both were acting stupid back there. Trying to one up the other, shouting, threatening. No wonder you both think badly of each other.”
“She started it!” snapped Kate. “From the moment she came over, she was cold and condescending.”
“It doesn’t matter,” said Ellis. “Just try to be civil from now on. At the very least, ignore her.”
Kate huffed, then finally nodded.
“We’re all stressed out by this,” said Ellis thoughtfully. “No wonder we keep getting in fights. I’m sorry I haven’t had time to talk to you. There’s a lot to do.”
Kate nodded. Then looked up suddenly.
“You’re in charge of organizing training,” she said slowly. “You didn’t assign me as a trainer, did you?”
“I did,” Ellis admitted. “You’re going to train Kari.”
Kate looked sullen. “I don’t think I can do it,” she moaned. “I’m barely trained myself!”
“Just do your best,” said Ellis. “That’s all we’re asking of anyone.”
“Fine,” said Kate. “Just don’t expect much. Which Kari is it?”
“The first one,” said Ellis. “I’d forgotten there were two. I’m guessing Nahim could take on two.”
At that name, Kate frowned again.
“You don’t like him either?” sighed Ellis. “Just because he broke up your fight?”
“No,” said Kate. “Because he took her side.”
“Well, what would you expect?”
“I would have liked him to approach the situation in an unbiased manner,” said Kate. “But I guess that’s too much to expect.”
“Come on,” Ellis chuckled, pulling her up and handing her discarded sword back.
“Now don’t throw me on the ground again!” chided Bloodsong.
Kate scowled at the sword but slung its sheath over her shoulder again and followed Ellis back towards the dining hall.

Wow, that got super long! I guess that’s what happens when I control both sides of the conversation.

She doesn’t really have any particular dislike of Nahim. Only because of his association with Nora.

Nahim rubbed his temple, is headache still bothered him.
“Never heard of it before, but that’s probably no surprise. How well can you fight?”
I like your names.

It’s looking like we’re almost ready to start their quest! So exciting!
What does everyone still want to do before they go? I would guess everyone wants a scene between the training partners, but other than that?

“I guess I’m okay at it.” I replied with a shrug. “Why do you ask? And are you alright there?”
Thanks!

“I’m asking cuz ya’re gonna need to know how to fight.” Nahim stopped rubbing his temple and touched his sword, a movement he made often, as if he were afraid it wasn’t at his side. “Why are you asking if I’m alright?”
Have fun getting Nahim to admit he really should be resting rn!

November 20, 2023 at 5:40 pm #165541I don’t think he’d take kindly to Zahlin doing it, seeing as it’s his fault and all.
