“How are you going to get through a dragon’s scales even if your aim is perfect?” Ellis aimed his bow, “I for one am not going to be trying to shoot them.” His arrow sped through the air and barely even hit the target.
“Well, I would hope not,” Ottoline frowned, “You wouldn’t even be able to hit them.” She drew another arrow and held her breath. The arrow landed in the perfect center of the target. “Redemption shot,” she smiled at Ellis.

”Alright, fine you win,” said Ellis shortly, tossing his bow aside and walking back towards the weapons. He fished out a wooden sword and tossed it toward Ottoline. It clattered to the ground at her feet and she stared down. “Pick it up,” said Ellis. “I’m going to show you how to use one.”
Finally! said Conviction, my time to shine! Wait, why are you getting a wooden sword? They aren’t even sharp! I’m way better! The sword sounded offended.
”We’re trying to avoid injuries here,” Ellis told the sword. “So we’re using practice weapons.

Kari
Left alone in the room with Kate, Nora, and Amir, Kari tried to think of something to say to break the awkward silence. Amir looked grumpy, but Kari couldn’t blame him. He was the only guy, and he was assigned to help with scouting missions. What could be more boring?
Actually, Kari didn’t think it would be a boring job, at least for her. She preferred it to trying to make weapons or train, both of which she had no experience in. This seemed to be something she might actually be able to put forth some effort towards.
“So.” Kari cleared her throat. “I suppose we need a map first before we can organize any scouting missions.”
“There’s one on the wall,” Kate stated flatly. Kari turned her head, and her cheeks flushed. How had she not noticed it when they walked in?
“I guess I missed that.” Great. She was supposed to be paying attention to details here. Releasing a sigh, Kari pulled her journal out of her pocket and opened it to a blank page. She ripped out a piece of paper and set it on the table in front of the other three. “I think we have a slight problem, though. I assume none of you know how to read the words on the map. They don’t look like any language I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely not English or French.”
(I’m assuming the written language of the Lillenings is unreadable to any of our charries, even though they can all understand each other when they speak)

“I’m going to teach you how to use one,” Ellis threw the wooden sword at her feet.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Ottoline frowned, “You’re obviously better than me.” she stepped away from the sword. “I think I’ll just stick to what I know.” She held her head up high as if confident, but she was trying to cover up her anxiety. I can’t-I can’t handle swords…she subconsciously glanced at her scars on her arms-no. Don’t think about that.
