All they could talk about was their wealth, or the “betterment” of Germany.
Ah, but, well, he knew he wasn’t supposed to judge.
But truth be told, he’d recently wanted to punch a man he’d only just met but heard lots of stories about, Franz, in the face.
Ahhh, maybe God was still working on him.
Fin led the small group, hand ready to grab his pistol if need be.
Scant light shone from lanterns, from candles, dimly lighting the narrow hallway.
“Fin, can’t you slow down?” Felix grumbled, falling behind along with Hans and his own wife, Frida.
Fin turned around and faced his commanding officer with a small apologetic smile. “Sorry, sir.”
“You better be.” Felix muttered, before turning his attention back to his wife and his brother.
Fin turned back around. ‘God, give me patience.’
Except he wasn’t watching where he was going.
He slammed into the dead end of the hallway with a thud.
“Fin!?” Felix called, as all three of Fin’s companions walked over.
Fin rubbed his head. It truly didn’t hurt that much. “I’m fine.”
Frida huffed. “Watch where you’re walking next time…the young ones these days.” She grumbled with a roll of her eyes.
How very ladylike and sophisticated.
No, no, don’t judge. Don’t judge.
Fin pointed. “There’s a door right there.”
Hans turned and grinned. “So there is.” He grabbed the handle and twisted it.
