Zlatan and Vulkasin are waiting for others in that group to respond, but they’re probably going to be heading off after Lord Ocran soon. That would probably be a perfect time to meet. =)

        @koshka.

Eva (i’ll use her this time. XD)

        Private Mikkel was smiling.

Ezra had one eyebrow raised, a fake smirk that was on the verge of being angry.

And Eva couldn’t fight a giggle.

“No…” Ezra replied, a bit of angry pride accompanying his tone, “it stands for United States. The United States of America.”

        Eva giggled again.

        She couldn’t help it.

His face was too funny not to laugh at. “Traitor…” Ezra muttered beneath his breath.

        Eva sighed. “You.”

“What about you? You’re laughing at me.”

“I’m not laughing at you.” Eva chuckled. “I’m laughing with you.”

        “Whatever you say, Ma’am.”

        Ahh…his wonderful Southern manners.

Eva turned to Mikkel. “And what brings you here, Private Mikkel Winston? And it’s a pleasure meeting you.”

She offered her hand for Mikkel to shake.

        Smiled a warm smile.

@koshka. Once he joins them though, I think Riker will be the oldest one there. XD

              Mikkel

United states. He had obviously lightly offended the pilot.

Eva, the young woman, recovered. “And what brings you here, Private Mikkel Winston? And it’s a pleasure meeting you.”

              She held out her hand.

Mikkel bowed over her hand, for an instant the proper son of a knight.

“I have little idea what forces brought me here. ” He sling his rifle back over his shoulder, it’s cold weight dragging on his spirit, and half bowed to Ezra. “Sorry chap. Afraid I never heard of the United States.”

Probably. XD I suppose I accidentally write boy soldiers.

So… I have two other characters that I’d like to add because they could really use some character development, but I didn’t know if that would be too much…

I could take out my character I have now (Everett) and replace him with another. Or I could add both… I didn’t know what ya’ll thought. I just didn’t want it to get too confusing and thought I’d consult the group first. 🙂

                    Ezra

“Sorry Chap. Afraid I never heard of the United States

                    Did Mikkel just bow?

What time did this guy live in anyways?

“Hey, it’s fine. We don’t know why we’re here either…or how we got here.” He flashed Mikkel a grin. “But at least we’re not alone in that.”

“Care to join us, Mikkel? Maybe together we can get out of here?”

Ezra raised an eyebrow at Eva.

Just because he’d forgiven and understood that Mikkel didn’t know what the US was, that didn’t mean he wanted Mikkel to come with them…

“It would be a wonderful way to get to know each other better as well.” Eva continued, smiling, and when she turned to Ezra, she winked.

                    Her wink was beautiful, but…ugh.

Ezra couldn’t resist that wink, could he!?

                    And Eva knew that.

“Would you like to accompany me and Ezra, Private Mikkel? I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful time.”

@koshka. Yeah. XD That’s okay. It adds more depth, y’know? 😀 And you can show through your books that boy soldiers really shouldn’t be a thing by all the pain your characters go through, you know? 😉 (just an idea…because I most certainly don’t agree with children being used as soldiers.)

Whatever Eva had just done rumpled Ezra even as it smoothed him. Interesting.

He smiled, but this time it didn’t reach his eyes. Wonderful times are gone forever. “As you say, sir.”

                        Fiddles, he’d said it.

Mikkel clicked the safety on his firearm. No brains in going around with a hot weapon.

The stair was dark, much like the lower decks of the Victory. Mikkel followed the other two down, his senses going on overdrive.

Torch sconces in the walls flickered, red light flashing in the corners of Mikkel’s vision. He shook his head and kept walking.

Exactly! That’s one huge reason I write so young. It’s awful, and I hate it.

                            Eva

She was careful to not trip down the stairs.

With heels, she had to be careful.

The stairwell was darker than any place she had ever been. Only torches lit it up.

                            My, this was creepy.

Something about it seemed to be bothering Mikkel though.

She hated to pry into his life, but she was also devoted to helping as many people as she could. She let go of Ezra’s hand. “I’m going to talk to Mikkel for a minute.”

“Whatever suits you. Man, it’s dark in here.”

Eva paused on the steps, waiting until she walked beside Mikkel. “Is something wrong, Mikkel? You just seem a little…worried, maybe? Or something else?”

@koshka. Yes, it is horrible. I cheer you on for wanting to address that. *claps* And It’s realistic too, especially for Historical Writing. Because like, Girl, when the Americans liberated the town of Aachen, Germany, in 1944, the youngest soldier was EIGHT YEARS OLD! That’s so HORRIBLE!

                                Mikkel

The lights flashed again, but this time he couldn’t hear the screams.

“I’m fine.” His voice snapped, the strained edges mocking him.

Eva’s step faltered, and the Lieutenant’s stopped completely.

Mikkel wanted to lie, to say it was just migraines, but Ezra would know better. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, and wiped the dampness out of his eyes.

“No need to apologize.” Oh yes there was. “What’s the matter?”

                                “Nothing. They’ll never go away.”

                                  Ezra

“What won’t go away?” Eva asked softly, her brows furrowing in concern.

She cared for everyone she met.

One of the many reasons Ezra had fallen in love with her. “Something is wrong. Even I can tell that and I’m not always very…observant. Even if you don’t want to tell me,” Ezra nodded towards Eva, “you can trust her with any secret pain. She’ll never tell anyone. Besides, how are we supposed to make it out of this place if we can’t sort through our problems?”

Eva gave Ezra a smile, then turned her attention back to Mikkel. “We care about you, you know.” Eva patted Mikkel’s shoulder.
