I wrote these to try and get my brother to read. He used to not like reading.The series was Sam and Me. (Largely influenced by Dicka and Jane, and other beginner books.)
Sam is the dog, Tom is the boy, Billy is his friend.This one is a terrible! 😛
I wrote books where they read books and I included the book they read. This is part of one of the books they read.

@dekreel Yes! I’ve met her twice: four years ago, and two years ago at a homeschool conference. (And spellcheck still insists that “homeschool isn’t a word! 🙂 ) I realized who she was here when she mentioned her story “Firebird” which I remembered talking to her about at the conference, so I asked her if it was the same person, and then she remembered me, too.
She actually has the first few of my books that I published. 😀 Her mom bought them from where I was selling them at the conference. She also gave me a very important idea for part of my time travel book. Guess she’s the only person here who knows my real name, and I know hers!

So I found this the other day…
I wrote it when I was seven and the spelling is just horrible. *facepalm*
I’ll write out the story since it’s hardly legible (and I’ll fix the spelling and grammar mistakes):
Once upon a time there lived a cat. Now this cat was not an ordinary cat. The cat has lost a leg. The cat’s name was Pretty.
There was a woods called Daytayae [what even?] woods. That wood was very scary. There where wild animals in it. There where lions and bears and wolves [oh my!].
Pretty lived on a farm. She had two kittens. There names where Luke and Mary. Luke had spots and Mary had no spots [stellar description here XD]. Pretty wanted to go into the wood, so one day she went into it with her kids. She wanted to explore the wood.
All of a sudden she heard a snort and out of the trees came a bear [apparently bears snort…]. They ran for their lives.
They made is safely back to the farm. Pretty and her kids were very brave but it was scary.
