Colors make absolutely no sense
January 29, 2025 at 10:21 am #196340Your art does look good. I’m a little thrown off because the picture you took of it is a little tilted, but they do look balanced when I tilt my head to match.
Iskyagus (how do you pronounce that anyway?? lol)
Here is my expertly made pronunciation guide:
Why’s he have antlers on his shoulders and not his head? Was that part of whatever curse made him more animal?
All in due time, my friend.
Apparently it’s possible for creatures to have more than one thumb, though. Chameleons and koalas do.
Not in the way Iskyagus does though. He has one thumb on each side of his hand.

January 29, 2025 at 10:22 am #196341That piece of artwork you have there looks cool. Is that a sheep in wolf’s clothing? Do you have the finished version?

January 29, 2025 at 10:24 am #196342Bro, the art is super good. You’re dedicated and it clearly shows; well done.
Thank you!
Ooh, nice! His cowl is cool!
Thanks! After I drew the first two full-body references, I looked at him and thought ‘he really needs something around his neck’. His cowl is the only part of his clothing that I’m settled on.

thanks! yeah I think I took that picture with my tablet camera, and my tablet is huge so it’s hard to stabilize.

lol that works though! Is-ky-a-gus, with the emphasis on the “ky”

yeah, and those creatures aren’t sentient either so they wouldn’t care as much as he would lol
have you thought of a chameleon race or are you gonna stick to the lizards all being Australian water dragons?

I don’t know. I still haven’t thought of any more races other than the ones that are already in there, except possibly a horse-like one. So I still have seven out of thirteen slots open.

January 29, 2025 at 11:13 am #196360@linus-smallprint okay, ideas!
- Arctic: This is cliche, but bears (with grizzly, polar, and black variants) would be cool. Or a semi-aquatic, fisherman race of seals.
- Asia: Red pandas, turtles, Asian elephants, or the flying dragon lizard might be cool.
- Oceans: This is gonna be hard if you want your creatures to retain some form of humanity. Dolphins and whales are an obvious choice….maybe too obvious. A flashy tropical fish culture might be cool if you’re looking for something a little different, or maybe take a page from my book and do humans with the tails, gills and scales of sharks.
- South America: I remember saying a parrot race would be interesting the last time you brought this up, and I still like the idea of at least one bird type (besides wizards of course). But if you want to keep wizards unique as the only bird kind, you could do a python or dart frog civilization (I don’t remember if you forbade there being snakes or amphibians, I think it was only insects and edible creatures besides deer you didn’t want).
- Europe: You said you maybe wanted a horse type which would fit here, but there’s still another slot open. Salamanders could be fun, or badgers, or hares (do those count as an edible animals to you and are thus off the list? If so ignore that suggestion). Ooh, or a hawk kind instead of the South American parrots–the European version of the lyens in that they think they’re better than everyone.

January 29, 2025 at 11:21 am #196366Thank you for your ideas! Maybe one day, I will actually come up with another race.
hares (do those count as an edible animals to you and are thus off the list? If so ignore that suggestion
They might. In book 2, some characters will be travelling and will have to hunt for some food. Since deer is off the menu, hares, or other rabbit-like animals, will be a source of food to them. (This is why we can be glad there are no human-animal hybrids in the real world)

Ahh, makes sense. Scratch the rabbit idea then.

lol yeah that would be a real conundrum.

January 29, 2025 at 8:45 pm #196402@linus-smallprint @ellette-giselle Thanks! I was trying to show how weird it was that the green that I was using was actually orange on the color wheel, lol
I haven’t finished the background yet. And yes, it’s a sheep in wolf’s clothing :]
