I love your design for lemon head! Idk what those thingy’s on her head are, but they’re cool!
Still don’t have a name for her? 😂🤣
The things on her head are like feathery antennae. She does have a name (Meena Sitron) but Lemonhead is just a lot more fun.

December 31, 2022 at 4:33 pm #126958Thanks! I’ve actually never read little house on the prairie!
My mom read it to us for school a few years ago. It was great! It’s a sweet book.

So I used to draw a lot, but I’ve gotten kinda frustrated 🙂
I always tried to draw very realistically, and I found books by Lee Hammond, who draws super realistically. Like it’s crazy. It’s soo realistic. (Mostly graphite, but also colored pencil)
I can do it when I have something to copy, but not just from an idea in my head. I was wondering what you guys usually do? Am I the only one who has to copy something? 😂
But anyway.
Do you have tips for getting back into drawing?
I love what you guys do, btw. It’s so good!

December 31, 2022 at 5:22 pm #126994I haven’t actually watched Andor yet, but I’ve heard that it’s good. What did you think?
December 31, 2022 at 5:26 pm #127000I love them all! Lemon Head is so cute and Dante (definitely not Leo) looks so cool. For some reason I really really like his one eye row… Eddie and Ellie are really good, too. They all look so good!
December 31, 2022 at 5:29 pm #127001That’s so cool! It’s so nice when people notice you like something and then poof- suddenly it’s yours. 😂 The bow sounds cute!
December 31, 2022 at 5:31 pm #127003YES!! I love talking about drawing, prepare for a rant 😂
My drawing greatly improved after learning proportions and musculature. That sounds super boring, ik, but it’s a lot of fun when you get it right. You don’t have to guess what shoulders look like, because you know the major muscles and where they go. Then, you can adjust the size of the muscles if it’s a guy or a girl. (also wider shoulders for guys.) If you use a art book, that’s great! I just worked from one lately, and really enjoyed it. I only really pay attention to the sections about proportions, because that always applies to any character. A good rule of thumb is that humans are generally 7-8 of there own head high. So if you draw a line that is the total height, divide it in half, half again, until you get eighths. The top eighth is the head size. Each of those lines is at a different point, I’ve gotten to the point of eyeballing because I never fully memorized it.
For heads, everyone uses something a bit different. I would try a tutorial for Loomis method heads. It will look super intimidating at first, but just try it! You probobly won’t be making all those guidelines in the future, you’ll get the general feel for face proportions and soon enough you won’t need them.
Practice makes progress, I know it can be frustrating. I’m actually really bad at drawing three quarters view, there’s a reason most of my drawings face front. I like to tackle it one thing at a time, so even though I might have a list of 20 things I need to improve at, I don’t try to do them all at once.
When I was first learning proportions I used something like this. I can’t remember if this is the exact video, but it’s close.

Hope that helps! Feel free to ask more! 🙂

December 31, 2022 at 5:32 pm #127005You didn’t tag me, but…
I definitely usually need a reference, at least in order for it to look good. However the more you practice (and that’s a lot of practice) the more you can draw from your head. So… Yeah…
I’d say just draw things that look like fun to draw. Save learning all the technique for when you’re more interested again. And practice… a lot.
December 31, 2022 at 5:33 pm #127006SO THIS IS HOW WE TAG NOW!!!!?

Thanks for the support. I guess I just need to practice some more! I’m a perfectionist, so . . . yeah.
