Love the scenes Leon! It was all so sad but good! I appreciate so much how your death scenes aren’t disturbing, I just finished that ww2 book I was telling you about and I’m a bit shaken lol. it was really good and I had no idea all of the things that happened in the book (It was about a German pilot who escorted an american fighter out of Germany out of pity/honor because he could see the wounded on board) but towards the end there was a death. it was a good read though! Also i love your Riker aesthetic board, Idk what forum that was on lol.

Also I’m plotting out Tauren and Lesli’s romance plotline… it’s weird the whole thing is making me emotional because I love my charries so much 😭😭
Over the course of the story, Lesli helps Tauren realize it’s ok to take risks in life, and that ends up being what gives him the courage to tell her his feelings 😭 because for him it’s a big risk. She needs time to think about it for awhile, because she kinda wasn’t ready to hear that, so there’s like a super sad 1-2 weeks where they are kinda distant and staying apart to process it by themselves (I mean they’ve been friends for so long, it’s a big thing) and Kaine is super sweet and checks on them each every day 😭 eventually they get it figured out and they end up getting married though. Also I’ve been thinking I’m going to incorporate poetry or letters into it somehow… idk. And there’s going to be a forehead touching scene I can’t wait to write. 🥰🥰

I’ve read disturbing death scenes before, and they can really bring you down, so I always try to write the death scenes in my novels with grace and truth. (some of them aren’t shown bc they would be disturbing otherwise, in my opinion) I think it’s important to not go into all the details of things like that, tbh, so I avoid writing them that way 😊

I set the pieces of paper on the desk, the tall man in front of me was Xander a close friend of mine. Well as close of a friend as he can be, we both came here around the same time. He was the only one who knew about my conversion to Christianity, but he also told me he would never be a Christian, which broke my heart.
“How’s it going?” Xander asked looking at the stack of papers I had set down in front of him.
“Decent,” I let out a sigh, I hated being the servant. “Did you hear, those prisoners they took from that Bible study… they’re gone now,”
“Shame…” Xander shook his head, he wasn’t against the government, just their hatred of Christians.
“There has to be a more peacef-” I stopped myself as Keith walked over. I hadn’t ever meant Keith but I had seen him from a distance to know he was a jerk.
“Anakin still hasn’t contacted us,” Keith said in a bitter tone. Probably because Anakin had gotten a promotion over him, mostly because Anakin’s dad was high in command. “But the others have been,” Keith gave an evil grin. “Taken care of,”
“Wasn’t there a more civilized way to handle the situation,” I said putting myself into the conversation.
“And who are you?!” Keith asked getting closer to me.
“Relax Keith, she’s been here longer than you,” Xander said with a laugh.
“Yet I haven’t got a promotion,” I said with a grin.
“Girls aren’t allowed to be high up in our government,” Keith gave a laugh like the government’s disapproval of women was a funny thing. “They let their emotions get the better of them,”
“Didn’t you send Anakin after a girl?” I crossed my arms, “And he hasn’t come back yet, has he?”
“Anakin isn’t one of our better ones,” Keith snarled.
“Funny, isn’t he in higher command than you?” Keith’s face turned red at my comment, whereas Xander just stood in shock.
“Watch your mouth!” Keith gave a clever smile. “Or you might end up like those Christians,”
I didn’t show any fear, I couldn’t give him that satisfaction. “I still think there was a more peaceful way to handle that situation,”
“By the way you’re talking I would think you’re a Christian yourself,” Keith grinned. “Besides it is just like a girl to be sympathetic,”
“And I suppose it’s just like a boy to be a jerk,” I retorted,
Keith put a knife against my throat. His anger grew, with my every comment. This escalated quickly, but I refused to show fear.
“Keith don’t do anything you’d regret, the government won’t be happy about a casualty,”
Keith looked at Xander and then slipped his knife back into his pocket. But he locked eyes with me, “Who’s to say you’re not a Christian?”
I paused, what was I supposed to say? I would have to lie, but I only hoped that someday I wouldn’t have to lie. That I could be a Christian without the risk of death.
“I don’t believe in following a God I can’t even see, I like to be my own boss, to follow my own rules,”
Keith seemed satisfied by my answer, and I could almost see a smile on his face. Which made me feel guilty, I would prefer for nothing I say to bring a man like this joy.
“Well, for once I agree with you,”
“Then I hope it’s the last time,”
Keith scowled, “Just know that while I’m at this base I’ll be watching you,”
I and Xander both sighed in relief as Keit walked off.
“For a minute there I almost believe what you said about Christianity,”
“Well don’t,”
Xander looked at me, his brown eyes staring into my blue ones. “You’re telling me that there wasn’t a part of you that believed it?”
“I believe in the Lord all mighty with all my heart, and in a different world I’d be open about that.”
Xander looked saddened like he was hoping for me to quit my religion.
We both stood in silence, until Xander pulled out some envelopes, and handed them to me.
“Take those to General Roberts’s office.”
I grabbed the envelopes looking up at Xander when I did so.
A grin went across Xander’s face. “You’re not reading them are you?”
I pretended to be offended. “I would never,”
“Anything interesting?”
“Something small, but then again it could be of a bigger interest,”
“What?”
“Do you remember Skylar 7492?”
“Yeah the Rebel, she grew up in one of our camps until her parents died and then she ran off to join the rebels,”
“And Peter 7497? Skylar’s best friend,”
“Yeah he was thought to be dead,” Xander shrugged.
“Well from what I’m reading he isn’t,”
Xander gave a shocked look.
I was about to say something, but I looked at the clock, I still had a lot to do and I was way behind.
“I have to go now,” I waved goodbye to Xander. I wished so badly he was a Christian, and that he could help me get recruits. But he had no clue about the rebuilding of the Rebels. About my undercover work, the work I had started only a few years after I had gotten here.
After my parents had sold me to the government to pay off their debt. After I had been raised to believe I was worthless. And for so long I had believed that, but I knew better now. I knew I was loved and cared for. And that I was the daughter of the king. That even though my Father had given me up, my Father in Heaven never would. And I wanted so badly to show that love to others, to show the joy I had.
