‘My bare feet tingled in the cold, wet grass as I ran. Wind tore through my hair, flinging it back and soaking it with the rain. My chest felt like it would burst with happiness and I stopped just to let out a laugh. Thunder rolling overhead seemed to laugh with me.
I couldn’t believe it was true. It was a miracle. I spun around happily, then…[Read more] -

So.
Who wants to play a game?
Well, I made one up if anyone would like to join.
Here’s how it’ll go.
Everyone puts a writing prompt for a short piece of writing (it can be a picture, a sentence or a word prompt) and answers the prompt above them.
Sound fun?
I’ll start.
Prompt: Write a sad scene on a bright, sunny day. -

A mad scientist that’s a huge people-person as opposed to the general recluse.

A dark joke. But a legitimately author-ish one, I’ll give you that. 😉
I liked it! I could definitely see from your other writings how you’ve progressed, but this isn’t a bad start at all. Nice and expectant. It piqued my interest for the character, which I believe was your intention. So, good job. 😛 -

Great job! Good imagery and nice spacing of the lines. 🙂 Free verse poetry has a lot less nitpick opportunities than structured. I couldn’t find anything. But that’s good, right? 😛

@Daeus I think there are plenty of dashing young Frenchmen. XD
A mentor that’s younger than the hero.

A dashing young henchman. There aren’t nearly enough of those.
A gentle-giant Fezzik sort of guy who saves the tough-girl action princess.
An unruly queen constantly being reined in by her dignified daughter.
A plain old dumb dog in the place of all the fancy, super-smart dog types that are always the pets.Love this topic! Great idea, @hope! 🙂

Webinar wise, I was thinking maybe a group deal where we could just talk writer stuffs. Or we could do single cam things with a Q&A or something. I don’t know. Webinars would just be cool. 😛
So, how the faithwriters thing works. They have 4 levels, Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters. You start in Beginners or Intermediate, depending…[Read more]

Hey, I had an idea as far as contradictions. If she’s banished and rejected by everyone, what if she’s a really big people person and cares a lot what people think of her? I think that might be interesting…

It’s actually kind of hard to think of stuff… you guys are doing an awesome job as is.
I’ve looked at the serial novel publishing guidelines and it would be pretty cool to get one of those going. But I guess that’s up to us, not you guys. XD
Maybe organizing some KP webinars. Every month… every other month… something like that.

hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia – what a word! What does it mean? 🙂
I believe it’s the irrational fear of large words. Obviously invented by some cruel person. XD
And that hill name… wow. I got lost halfway through. You guys have some sort of nickname for it, right? -

@gretald Glad to be of help. 😛 I’d take into consideration one of @kate-flournoy‘s points as well when your starting out. The bit about contradictions is definitely something to work with. Usually having a fish-out-of-water concept to work with starts off the inspiration quite a bit.

@kate-flournoy Heeeey! Within the Palace Gates! We just finished that as a school read-aloud in our family. 😀 It was pretty good. I had that same problem you mentioned with it sort of niggling the whole way through. But, hey, at least they didn’t outrightly change anything the Bible said. that was all just expanding on it.
That, and I didn’t like…[Read more] -

Anything by Lois Walfrid Johnson is great, though I think Viking Quest is my favorite. And I’ll back up @sarah-h on the Zion Covenant and Zion Chronicles, though I had to wait for a bit until I was old enough to read the second one in the Chronicles.
