Wren looked a little shaken.

“I’m sorry, that didn’t make any… You know what?” Marcel looked up from where he leaned against the bleachers. He shut his mouth, then opened it. “You should know this place is absolute chaos. And we’re all used to pretending it isn’t. If you’re going to write an article, make a big storm over the school board. They’re probably all criminals.”

I mean to ask what kind of handsome you are referring to! What is his face shape? Round, square, long? Does he have a long or short nose? What shape are his eyes?

If none of that matters to you, that’s fine. I shall find pictures of German youth and create from there.

I am shivering in ridiculous amounts of delight. Why is it so exciting when someone accurately reads a character?

😂🤣 I get it. I feel the same way. The best way to make someone’s art feel seen and heard is to interpret it. Even if it’s not perfectly accurate, it means you’re actively thinking about it.

Why is it always portal fantasy

I think because it accommodates everyone. It’s the only way for all the characters to make sense and not constantly contradict each other.

I’m not trying to dictate how this works, so if we want it to be different, we can try to be more cohesive. Depends on what people want to do.

I like your conquering worlds idea

Yeah, that makes everything feel closer together. It’s like this roleplay is a coat, and all the worlds are pockets. And people are squirrels nesting in the pockets, and running back and forth between pockets.

I… don’t know. I don’t want to be the person deciding this, because it seems like something everyone should decide on.

I like both ideas equally. A, everyone is in the same world. B, they’re not.

But maybe we should decide, so things stay consistent

There he is! Quite thoughtful looking, indeed. Gentle. The dear fellow could be so much more brash if he wanted to, but he’s too good. That’s my impression of him.

See, that’s what I thought at first. But then I started picturing it this way, because some of the characters know nothing about any other country. And that doesn’t make sense unless they’re all isolationist.

idk, I think of it as somewhere that belongs to none of their worlds. Like the wood between the worlds (see Narnia)

Yeah. I was picturing that it’s possible to go from one world to the other. Many worlds don’t know about each other. But some are very familiar with each other, to the point where countries from different worlds could conquer and take over each other. Which now that I think about it is actually a cool fantasy concept… Oooo…

I’m pretty certain Jasper’s country knows how to conquer otherworldly countries.

Does that make sense?

Marcel had stopped playing to stand in the bleachers. His arm was scraped, and he was a little out of breath after playing for so long. No matter how good he felt after exercising, he always wheezed afterwards, worse than a boiling tea kettle.

His hair lay damp against his forehead. It was in an awkward phase where it was long, but too short to tie up. Maybe he should get some braids done; braids were a common style for his strain of Baztian blood.

The other kids were doing well. His team had collected themselves, and looked more confident as a whole. One of the smaller girls, someone he had defended during the game, waved up at him. He waved back.

“Excuse me, would you be willing to answer a few questions for the school newspaper?”

It took a moment to realize who the words were for. Marcel glanced around, and his eyes landed on the young woman from earlier. She was a journalist, then. Gently swiping a lock of hair from her face, she held up a notebook, and her eyebrows came together in an intent way.

“Hi.” Marcel smiled. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you there. You… want to interview me? Right now?”

Yeah, I get it. I saved up a few years ago, because I didn’t want to ask my parents for something so expensive

If it’s a matter of knowing what to get, I recommend an iPad, matching pencil, and Procreate. Getting Procreate is a one-time cost and this set-up has lasted me years. I’m not super serious though, so some people might prefer more.
