What are your thoughts on how someone is saved? I’d like to hear your view. š (From your comment, I infer that you, like me, would say that being filled with Spirit is a necessity.)
October 27, 2026 at 12:33 am #214761I appreciate this! When things get heated. . . it makes me feel blah. š¤£
Understandable. š It always makes me feel bad too. Don’t worry about it.
I appreciate the verses as reference! Thank you for your perspective. It’s always interesting to read about. And it is good to hear other people’s personal stories.
This might feel like I’m pushing away everything you’ve said, and if so, I apologize. I’m thankful that you want to walk me through that and feel brave enough to share what you think is important, and what is especially important to you.
I do not feel called to speak in tongues. I do feel called to testify of God, tell others about him, and worship him through songs and other forms of praise.
I might feel otherwise if I was somehow uncertain of the Spirit or unfulfilled in Him. But I don’t feel that way. I have no doubt that the Spirit is already within me. This is the most serious thing I am sure of. I already have that peace and there is no lingering doubt in my mind. You might understandably not believe me, but it is true and I would testify my entire life to prove it if I could and if you saw it as proof enough.

Sure!
A person is saved through Christ alone. All have fallen, and there is no other way to be saved, especially through works. Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son of God, equally God and man, who lived a perfect life and died on the cross for his loved ones. He took the punishment, then rose again three days later and sits at the right hand of his Father in heaven.
A person is saved only when they repent of their sins, ask and receive the Holy Spirit, and believe in Christ. I believe the Spirit is necessary for a person to properly believe and accept the Word. We are all dead in our sins and we cannot rise from our sinful state unless the Spirit revives us.
I also believe the Spirit shows Himself in many ways, not just one singular way. If it was necessary to speak in tongues to be fully saved, the Bible would make it more abundantly clear. The Bible mentions other gifts. (I can do a little breakdown of this, if needed. I’d have to sit down and do some impromptu studying with my dad.)
I have known many, many Christians who testify of the Holy Spirit within them and do not speak in tongues. This includes my whole church, my most beloved mentors, and missionaries who have risked their lives or gone to prison. They all say they have the Spirit. I believe them. Beyond that, there are many accepted Christians within the Church’s history who were the same.
That is my personal belief. I am not getting heated at you, I’m just realizing how confident I am. I hope that this makes sense somewhat. :]
