Oh my goodness, have you ever heard of the Tinkerbell movie that never finished production? It was called Tinker Academy or something, and rumor has it, it was going to be steampunk themed. I can’t believe they didn’t make it.

Ooohh funsies! Tinkerbell is such a favorite of mine, and I like the boots you gave her on the moodboard. It looks very accurate to her character if you took the story in a more serious fantasy direction.
Oh, I just noticed the crocodile. Hehehehehe.

Magic systems are such a struggle sometimes. Sometimes it’s something as simple as the elemental power of fire, and sometimes it is something as complicated as the periodic table of elements. They are so fun, and yet so hard to get right. XD
This is a topic to branch off the new world-building topic, so @raxforge , I dedicate this to you, and to…[Read more]

Yeah girl. Look at me. *Presses face into the screen* That’s a full 50,000 words. That’s no simple feat. 🥰 And you actually have words on the page which can be edited and made into something even better! It’s not like you’re working with an empty document here, this is a seriously already finished first draft.

I was reminded of something one of yall had said about maybe working on another WIP since maybe I’m just burnt out a bit on this one right now?
You should do that!! You’re not giving up on November or Paxton or anyone, you’re just giving them time to rest and develop in your subconscious. I often switch between projects when I feel burnt out. It g…[Read more]

The evil/weird religious system in my WIP so far only has moon worship and possibly vague ancestor stuff…which is being an issue because of blurred lines between calendars and idolatry, but I’m actually having fun with that so far so let’s hope I don’t end up with mad parents.
I think it makes sense. There was a lot of moon worship in the…[Read more]

And you never really know how many categories world building falls into. There’s just so many different things. I know I keep saying this, but it’s crazy. Just the fact that one of my protagonists is biracial brings up so many questions that have to be answered so I can sleep at night.

I’m always so impressed when somebody invents a language for their story. I’m too traumatized from Latin to have any sort of desire to that end.
It saved the world from becoming a huge political allegory
LEGIT concern right there. Actually so true.

I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have reawakened the trauma. *Pats your head apologetically* We’ve all been through it before.
Boundaries will help. Writing is like a relationship. You can’t let it take over your life, Koshka. I believe in you.

*Core memory unlocked* I just remembered something from at least a couple years ago. My seven-year-old baby sister fell in love with Marcel when he was made, and insisted his theme song was Cupid by Fifty Fifty. There was lots of kicking feet and giggling. She was such a hopeless romantic. Gosh, that…[Read more]

A perfectly understandable complication. After all, now you have to make every aspect of your world just as complicated as that porridge recipe. It’s only natural.

*Watches you scream* *Joins you by screaming into my stuffed unicorn*
The best decision I ever made for Project Lovedream was to limit the world-building to one city due to an extreme history of isolationism, plus the science fiction boundaries implemented because of it. It makes my job a whole lot easier.
Have you drawn maps for your…[Read more]

That actually reminds me of a conversation I saw on CWW before the community closed. It was about relatability and likability. A lot of people seemed to think relatability makes a character likable. I’m not sure if I agree with everything they said, but it was still interesting to read.

Loopylin replied to the topic Stormlight Archive in the forum Book Discussions 3 days, 4 hours ago
Yeah, that makes total sense. He is only relatable for some people. It’s impossible to relate to every character, but you can still like them. And I’m glad Sanderson gave him several things to work through, specifically in WoR. :-]

One of the first things I pin down are what I consider the building blocks of a culture; Cold or warm; Individualist or collectivist; Rich or poor; Military or civilian; Old or young. Then I find the cultural ideals for beauty, character, morality, nobility, justice.
This stuff is all so fuuuuuun, and all so eeendleeeeeeesssss. And just…[Read more]
