I find stuttering very annoying to read when it’s written in the dialogue every time the character speaks. But you can write it out if the character doesn’t talk that way 24/7, since it’s less to see on the page. I don’t think Min means you should actively hide your writing from your family, just that you can refrain from doing so if you feel like they would give superficial feedback. Highly recommend the anime movie Legend of Hei. Starts off a little slow but the relationship which the movie revolves around is very satisfying. Best watched with friends who appreciate both action scenes and fuzzy feelings :]

I would approach any character as an androgynous person first, and build up a semblance of personality before developing them with gender in mind. Because otherwise you might fall into your default female tropes.
