Haha yes but unfortunately I’ve never really learnt about Australian history.
By the way, I’ll have to leave for lunch in a while.
Isn’t it Sunday for you too? 😛 Don’t you have church services on Sunday? (My church has Saturday services so I went yesterday).

Haha yes that sounds very vague.
For some reason an Australian fantasy makes me think of bushrangers a la Ned Kelly. But that’s probably because that’s the only Australian history that I know about. 😛

Oh how’s the worldbuilding going? And what’s your new project about? 😛

Haha so we’re both procrastinating?
Two WIPs? You mean the second draft of your second book and the third book?

What are you working on? I’m just watching videos now before getting started on writing my WIP.

Praying for you guys!
@seekjustice @rochellaine @jenwriter17 @catwing @alia @ariel-ashira @clairec
I have a prayer request too. Lately I have been getting very fierce and debilitating bouts of stress, anxiety and worry as a result of the toxic combination of new job + high workload + lack of knowledge and experience at new job + my own…[Read more]

I love brainstorming. I have lots of ideas for my stories but the problem comes with linking them together into a tight, cohesive plot that somewhat makes sense 😛
Lately I’ve been getting a lot of inspiration for my other story, Rules of Fate, as opposed to my WIP, QOD. So I am thinking of looking through and uploading the first…[Read more]

Haha, yes, where did that come from? That is not the direction my story is taking at all. 😛
By the way, if you want to read the second part of QOD, the link is available on the thread so you can request for access. No one’s read it yet though. (Not trying to pressurize you to read it or anything since I’m still struggling through…[Read more]

Haha. Thanks I’ll think about it. My MC is not in a situation to talk about romantic stuff with a guy and she won’t be for a very long time. But that might work for another character in one of the subplots…?
Nevertheless, the porch is not a balcony so why can’t the guy just climb the stairs and talk to the girl on the porch like a…[Read more]

Oh. All right then. 🙂 It’s just that I remembered that SFI had some dark and depressing bits (not that it was that depressing to me since I already knew all the deaths were coming) and realised that my complaint about edginess could be taken the wrong way…
Yeah, I too am surprised that you like Seekjustice’s books…[Read more]

Noooo please don’t misunderstand. I wasn’t accusing you of trying to be “edgy” with SFI! 😛
I generally only like two kinds of stories: Stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things and stories about extraordinary people doing ordinary things. But there are several things I look out for in stories that usually determine…[Read more]

Oh dear. Did I just trigger a rant war? 😛
But why do you think musicals should be happy and fun? I mean, I don’t think you have the same expectations for books, films etc.? Just because there’s singing and dancing doesn’t mean it shouldn’t go for dark and depressing.
For me, I don’t really like dark and depressing stuff across all…[Read more]

I know what your beef is with Phantom but what is your problem with Les Mis and ATOTC? (I assume you are talking about the musicals and not the original books since you wouldn’t be reading @seekjustice‘s books otherwise)

What are the chances Hollywood writers would actually do so?
OK, I’ve read the synopsis for Carousel/Liliom and can sort of see why you and @rochellaine have issues with it.

valtmy replied to the topic Writers' Corner #19 in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 8 months ago
My characters are acting however they want. Whether things work out for them, though, is up to me, their author. 😛
Never heard of that one. So your definition of a “horrible story” consists of unlikable characters and depressing storylines?
Oh right. Forgot about Les Mis and Phantom. How could I? 😛

That’s no way to adapt a book into a musical. Though I can’t really think of too many book-to-musical adaptations to give as examples…
Well, there’s Matilda which I watched in London. It was quite good because they actually wrote songs for the scenes instead of just blatantly ripping off the lines.
