It looks good! I liked the flashbacks into Joseph’s backstory. The only thing was I caught a sentence or two that didn’t flow well— “It was evening of the next day.” for example. Maybe you could change it to, “it was the next evening?” Idk. I’m sure it’s fine if you leave it.

Do you want a more animal-sounding name like Lightning or a names like Buff? His name would also reflect some of his character as well, so that’s something to keep in mind.
