Yeah, I am still considering which time periods I should choose from! And fort the very important question, I have already started working on her origin! I was thinking maybe that she had a test or a choice that was like a choice from God, and she was given the curse of immortality or something like that! An example was she was given the three choices between riches, wisdom, and immortality (Because those are the three things almost every human wants.) and the only correct option would be wisdom, but she foolishly chose immortality.

My sister says to stop replying to this argument… but… I just want to say,

Context and History is all in the Bible. Reading other passages helps you understand other passages.

understanding the background of the time can be immensely helpful and even open your eyes to things that you might not have noticed before.

That is entirely true, you can get context for other passages , but there is no way that you can get context for this, from the Bible (yes this is a real verse from the Bible) “If a man’s (body part… I censored it) are crushed or his (body part) is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the Lord.” … There is no way in thousand years you would find what God means by that in the Bible! BUT, if you take history into context, then you can understand what God means! He is referring to back when men would take care of kings daughters, and wives.  The king didn’t want the men to… so they agreed to do that… (yuck) They agreed to ruin their own bodies for money, you wouldn’t find the answer to that in the Bible!

The Bible is all we have to go off of and it’s the number one way God communicates it to us.

Yes and no. It is ONE of the ways God communicates to us, but you could argue God’s number one way to communicate to us is something else like prayer. But I do agree, I think the number one way he talks to us IS the Bible! But it is not all we have to go off of.

No, not at all. I am saying that the Bible IS God’s word, and that you should 101% follow it. But you NEED context to read the Bible, there is A LOT of figurative language!

I don’t think the_lost-journal was saying that the teachings of the saints are superior to the Bible. I think he meant that they were another source of instruction.

Oh, pft no! The saints are shut mere people, guiding us to Jesus and God! There word is literally just the Bible, but explained with context to help us! I am sure there are some saints who would agree with you Esther! But there are probably other saints (That are probably newer saints) Who would agree with me!
