@ellette-giselle @loopylin @theshadow @koshka @whalekeeper @whoever else was talking about this, I don’t know
I’m a little bit late to the party (a couple months late, but whatever), but I’ve got a question relating to the topic of women going into battle.
Sort of.
In my WIP, my female main character begins doing uncontroversial fine-for-girls…[Read more]

Not finished my words, but I did want to show y’all some poems I wrote:
Éphémère
Retirés comme l’air de nos poumons
Vous êtes le silence maintenant
Nous sommes ce que nous devenons
Les chaînes du temps en remontant.
Here’s a translation:
Ephemeral
Withdrawn like the air of our lungs
You are the silence now
We are what we become<…[Read more]

THAT. Role playing games…*leans back and remembers*
As the eldest, I have many memories of leading role-playing games with my sisters. Think tea party but with a plot and all of the dolls are sick with appendicitis. (There were a lot of games. Some of them were action packed, like when we had a villain who wanted to take everyone…[Read more]

You know you’re a writer when you get annoyed with creative writing assignments for being so rigid.

We also have a new tradition where we eat a different cuisine for dinner on the three(?) nights leading up to Christmas. Like Mexican, Chinese, pizza, and then on Christmas Eve we eat finger foods so there aren’t a lot of leftovers to leave room in the fridge for left over Christmas dinner. 😋
Lol pretty much. My family usually has C…[Read more]

Yes, I celebrate Christmas. Being Catholic, I also do advent during December. It’s a time of reflection and preparation for Christ’s coming. Christmas for my family and I is when we rejoice because Jesus came to Earth, and when we remember His birth and His love for us.
However, my parents have decided to abandon certain Christmas…[Read more]

I think I may struggle with this partially be because my Dad and I are not very emotional and struggle with being sincere, and sometimes can seem stiff. My interactions with him naturally are what I refer to for these scenes, so Alan and Charles have picked it up.
.Ah, I see. I have a very close relationship with my Dad, so I…[Read more]

No!Â
Seriously, that gave me the ugh-the-main-character-is-doing-something-stupid sinking feeling in my stomach, so bravo. You can successfully torture your readers.
In chapter the 28th, I did notice that some of the dialogue between Alan and his father is a bit stiff. For example:
Alan gave his father a…

Gladly!
Winston used to be person, but I won’t describe what his human form looked like. He was a ruthless Captain in the Evil King’s army (I’m writing a novelized fairy tale, so I have permission to name my villain the Evil King lol) and a sorceress came and cursed…[Read more]

I also forgot to mention that he’s a cardboard cutout right now: dry, without a personality, but with some sort of 2D substance I’ve inserted into him which goes along the lines of “you were a bad person, now you’re trying to change, good luck.”

So I’ve got a character who’s kind of a dog.
Lemme explain.
His name is Winston and he used to have a human form, except that he wasn’t the nicest guy and a sorceress came along and cursed him. So now he’s a dog. He can still talk and stuff, but he looks like a dog.

As for the actual plot of everything, I really like what you did with the crow there. Ties in nicely. I’m curious as to what the king’s doing. Is he trying to help Alan? It may be that because he was interested in Alan’s success, he ordered the arrests of the Faithful in order to get rid of one of the wizard’s obstacles. But…[Read more]

I read the updated version of Chapter the 23rd, and I really like it! You did a great job of capturing Alan’s emotions and his motivation, and demonstrating the saving power of the Savior through Charles.
The one thing I’m going to criticize is what Charles says when his son is saved:
“Alan, my Son! I am so glad to hear t…

Young person I know, and won’t tell you who: It’s part of my culture!
That actually happened. The younger person was like seven.
