My littlest brother was just demonstrating his use of bicycle brakes and showing off. Of course, I pretended to be all excited about his remarkable abilities.
Me: Whoa, you can use your brakes, Josh!
Him: No, I was not using my brakes.
Me: Oh, did you stop using your strong imagination?
Him: No, I used my back brakes.
Me: That’s…[Read more]

Sorry, I just had to save my brother from the tyrannical rule of the Shetland ponies and then he fell off his bike and I had to deal with that as well 😀
I have heard of Henty. I’m pretty sure I have one of his books as well, but I haven’t read it. Oh, who’s your favourite actor?
😛 Love the Princess Bride quotes 😛 if it actually…[Read more]

Yep, its after Napoleon was exiled and Louis XVII (maybe? there’s so many Louises I get them mixed up) is on the throne. No, I’ve never heard of the Haitian revolution.
I don’t necessarily mind people getting married young, say if the girl was seventeen and the guy eighteen or nineteen, and I don’t necessarily have a problem with…[Read more]

You aren’t alone in thinking that 😀 The June Rebellion, which was what it was called, happened in 1832 and it was mostly led by students. See, after the French Revolution, the monarch eventually was restored to the throne and things got even worse from then on (for the poor at least. For everyone else, things were dandy) and there…[Read more]

The 1830s. 😛 My inner history nerd must correct you.
Very true, but our culture is hypocritical in the extreme. We still see prostitution as a bad thing in the present day, and a shameful thing, even if we don’t have any morals regarding pregnancy and children out of wedlock like we did back then.
I can see that Jonas, Quillon and…[Read more]

Actually, I’m surprised by the inconsistencies and problems you guys have pointed out to me, when it seems that you missed the two that have bothered me the most.
a). Jean leaves his daughter all alone in the trench in order to rescue Justice who he doesn’t even like.
b) Justice was originally seven years older than Chessy.
And…[Read more]

True.
It has to work with the story, okay? Eponine is fifteen/sixteen when she goes to the barricade, so there we go. 😛
Poor Kendall. No one cares about him.
I’ll try to fix it up. In another draft. Not now.

I truly think that Justice doesn’t care. Not necessarily that he doesn’t care about her, but that he doesn’t care she’s underaged. Revolutions aren’t usually made of people of military age after all, especially people’s revolutions and since most of them are students, even the people they’re riling up are going to be quite…[Read more]

Ah, maybe that’s where we differ. I don’t find it hard to write using I because my characters are often quite similar to me. I just fill in with imagination in the bits where they are different 😀

Ah, romance subplots are so pesky! They turn up when you least expect them and suddenly, whoa, that guy’s a love interest.
Starting Fires? Oh, I wonder why it’s called that 😛

It does sound very dramatic, doesn’t it? Cool, I can’t wait to see what you think of the rest 😀

😀 I guess I just got used to writing from only two point of views, but I really like first person so I just deal with it.
I don’t know. Is your book in first person or third? I was just suggesting you could try telling it from a different point of view for the second book, whether that was in first or third. Does that make sense?

You could always swap some of the povs for book two, couldn’t you? in my novel, I have two first-person points, and while my main, main character remains constant, the other pov changes between books. You could try something like that if you wanted.
Poor Alex *hugs her*

I do indeed have a blog. anordinarypen.wordpress.com/ Â
@catwing Three isn’t bad, I’ve read books with more. I don’t think I could do more than three, 😛 I’d confuse myself, let alone my reader! Ah, okay, before she goes pyromaniac.
I have a question though. Is Alex bad? or misunderstood? or what?

SeekJustice replied to the topic Writers' Corner #18 in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 9 months ago
Oh yes! me too! I just want to get to book three…I’ve already book two, but its still pretty rough.
Yep, you’ve told me about that one. it’s the one which had a lot of povs and you had to get rid of some and its the one with Alex in it, am I right?

I have a love/hate relationship with the rewriting process, which is what I’ve been doing for the past few months. I’m almost finished now though, so that’s a relief. Which book are you rewriting?

Oh my friend…I’m sorry that I didn’t see this until now. I will definitely, definitely be praying for you.
For my whole life I’ve never felt like I fitted in with other teenagers. I remember talking to my mum about it once and telling her, “Its not that I want to be like them, because I don’t. I just want to feel included”.
And that’s…[Read more]
