The almighty word war 😀 I usually war against myself (my record is three hundred words in five minutes), but I’ll definitely go against the two of you.

I feel a slight bit confused right now, but that’s okay. If either of you are warring, I’m more than happy to join in, otherwise I’ll just try not to get distracted.

Very possibly. *raises eyebrows mysteriously* *vanishes*

Actually, that is a brilliant plan. I don’t want to “cut off the toes and hair” of Origami Cranes just to squeeze it into the comp, but I possibly could do that. I’ll have a go a little bit later (I’ve got to go into town today, but hopefully I’ll be around at my usual time). Thanks for the idea!

haha…I’d finished editing months ago, but editing is never really done. I’ve already fixed up a few mistakes and typos, but if you catch anymore I’d be super grateful!
Okay cool! I’m torn, because I really wanted to enter this particular competition, but it means cutting so much out….I could wait and look for another competition…[Read more]

You might need to go further back. It was about two days ago now. I can repost the link here but to understand the prologue you might need to read through the conversation Rochellaine and I had.

Oops sorry! Yep, i can see your comments and its up to you. If you’ve got other stuff to do by all means go and do that, but if you want to keep going that would be appreciated. I am considering, though, leaving this competition and finding another one with a higher word count. Still, I think there’s some things that need fixing up.

If you go back a bit in the Writers Corner, you’ll find a whole discussion between @rochellaine and myself about Chessy being adopted, and somewhere in there you’ll find the prologue!

Cool topic 🙂 I write a bunch of different things: historical fiction, historical fantasy (which is kind of like the contemprary fantasies that have become popular lately, think Percy Jackson, with magic in the real world, but historical). I also like dystopian and writing retellings of fairy tales and classics. I’ve dabbled in sci-fi…[Read more]

I’m beginning to question how you function like a normal human being, what with all this work you do in the wee hours of the morning!
I imagine a scene like that would have played out much like a KeePeeFer gif war.

My computer is about to run out of battery and I have some schoolwork to do, but I should be back in an hour or so. If you want to go to bed though, by all means do.

He has some very funny ones. Mulga Bill’s Bicycle is about a fellow attempting to ride a bicycle and ending up in the creek. The Geebung Polo Club is about a bush polo club and posh polo club in a tournament. He’s best known for The Man From Snowy River, though, which is a really awesome piece of Australian literature.
I’ll be…[Read more]

Banjo Patterson is a very good poet, usually his stuff is much less serious though. He tends to be more comical.
Uh…that’s unfortunate.
Improper protection when unloading a ship/truck/train. Getting whacked by something or having it fall on you.

Thanks! I’ve found a few places to shorten, mostly just phrases here and there, but hopefully if there’s enough it’ll cut it down a bit.
Banjo Patterson, who was an Aussie poet, wrote a poem once about a father who gets caught in a flood with his baby son. They only have one horse who will swim through the water, so the father ties…[Read more]

Wow, you have been stalking the forums for a while. It was ages ago I last posted this story. I strike again! I love making people cry 🙂
Okay! Hitting their head, falling into a river and drowning.

Hopefully that works! I’m just back from my lunchbreak and at the editing again!
Yeah….it’s hard isn’t it? How many ways can people accidentally die?

Yeah, it is pretty obvious and most people would guess it quickly. Accidentally killing sounds like the best way to go….but how does one accidentally…[Read more]
