SleepwalkingMK replied to the topic What genre do you write in? in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 8 months ago
@ashlyvye It’s the opposite of a utopia, basically. Utopia is the perfect world, dystopia is the awful world. I have not read much dystopia, though, so I’m not very familiar with how it usually plays out in fiction.

Hey everyone! Would anyone be interested in drawing my character Aly?
She’s a 16-17 year old girl. She has green eyes and freckles, and straight red/auburn hair. She is sassy, sarcastic, a bit arrogant, and likes to debate, annoy people (especially her older sister), and rebel against authority. She has a dry sense of humor. She loves running and…[Read more]

@ashlyvye What a cool topic! I write mostly fantasy, though I’ve begun to dabble in science fiction and realistic fiction. They don’t come as naturally to me though 😛
@supermonkey42 I agree. In my worlds, there’s “magic” in the sense that powers may exist, other creatures that I made up exist, and there are different races that I made up. But…[Read more]

@dekreel Oh, I’d found a different, newer discussion about it. AND THANK YOU FOR THIS GEM. I’m dying XD

@seekjustice Thank you so much! I just read the synopsis and it looks amazing! Thank you again! *bounces off to read*

@ariel-ashira Those titles certainly grab me! I would certainly pick up The Last Tomorrow, but Where the Vultures Gather, while super intriguing, would probably make me think of death, so if I didn’t know you or the book wasn’t recommended to me, I probably wouldn’t pick it up. Although that’s just my taste. And it would still intrigue me, even if…[Read more]

I love that! It’s so true 🙂 A Tale of Two Cities??? That is one of my favorite books! Please, could you let me know if you ever need betas, or when you publish these? 😀

@supermonkey42 Good list. I’m going to have to keep that saved somewhere 😀
@seekjustice Oh my goodness! That sounds amazing! I love that statement, “God outlasts infinity.” And a dystopian retelling of Les Mis?! I haven’t read it in a long time, but this sounds So. Cool!

@princessfoo Ah, cool. And longer titles often tell you some of the plot, or something about a character better than a shorter one, which tends to be more abstract. I like the title The Key to Everywhere and I don’t think it reminds one too much of The Girl from Everywhere, though I haven’t read it. To me, The Key to Everywhere doesn’t sound ve…[Read more]

@seekjustice That is a beautiful title! I love how simple and deep it is, and the bit of mystery intrigues me 😀 What’s your book about?
Oo, those titles sound interesting! I’m reading a series right now like that; the titles are Deadline, Dominion, and Deception, and each title is a huge theme in its book.
Yes, I agree. Character…[Read more]

@rochellaine Haha, yes it is weird. Oh, interesting. Lots of tension there! Oh, wow.
Yess! it is! They take over each story I write. And sometimes pop out of nowhere.

@rochellaine Pretty strangely. It started out as a kind of ode to a friend I miss in the States, and morphed into a villain’s backstory. I got past 200 words 😀 How about you? How’s your story going?

@rochellaine I’m in Romania… so, I’m 6 hours ahead of EST. I think it’s GMT+2? Though I’m not sure. I have about 5-10 minutes.
