A futeristic tavern/pub sort of place. Probably pretty dirty, quite crowded, I can imagine the walls being metal for some reason, but very grubby. She usually sits behind the bar and paints at an easel.

Great quotes!
Hmm what comes to mind is this from William Faulkner:
“The only thing worth writing about is the human heart in conflict with itself.”

@jenwriter17 Isn’t it, though? I have a tendency to become melodramatic, but I think this really sums up how to write good drama. I know I usually cry more when I watch/read about someone trying not to cry than when they’re sobbing their heart out.
I like your quote, by the way. 🙂
@skredder That’s a great quote! It sounds like a good way to…[Read more]

@rochellaine Great topic idea!
Oh! *faints* that quote makes so. much. sense. it’s beautiful 😊
Here’s a quote I found.

I don’t know who Charles de Lint is, but I really like this quote. We each have a unique voice and style, we just have to embrace it.

@skredder Oh, haha. 😀 Yes, we Americans do tend to think of our country as the center of the universe. Why would anyone else need an East Coast? Our East Coast is fifty times bigger than the East Coast of England, right? 🙂
(No offense to the British people here. I’m being sarcastic.)

Its a dystopian and she’s pretty poor, so her clothes are quite raggedy, but they would be simple and practical too.

@skredder Haha, yeah. I read one of my little sister’s books which was set in England, and the story was about a little girl who was sad because her grandmother or something lived far away on the coast, and usually they spent the summer with her, but couldn’t this year, so she missed her.
I looked it up, and turns out they were about two hours…[Read more]

@skredder Okay, that makes sense.
Have you ever realized how big the US is compared to other countries? A lot of tourists come here and say that they want to see the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canyon, and the White House, and don’t realize that it takes hours and days of driving time to get from one to the other. 🙂

@skredder When I went on the bridge next to Hoover Dam the winds were pretty strong, but I don’t know the exact mph. I thought of this scene, and when I researched for it I found that the wind gets up to 50 mph there, and that’s enough to blow a 100 lb person off her feet. Chara is little, so she’s supposed to be about 90-95 lbs, and could e…[Read more]

Oh, do you travel often? I fly about once a year to a conference my law school holds in Nevada but thankfully my brother always goes with me, so I don’t have to worry about finding my way around. I just follow him, and he tak…[Read more]

So please read it and tell me if after reading this much you would keep reading. Or something like that.

Okay, I’ve got a little bit of clarification to do. 🙂 Mostly because I took a lot of time off from writing for finals last month, and am just getting back into it, so I had kind of forgotten a couple of the plans I had made for this book. Therefore, when I wrote the synopsis I missed a few things.
@seekjustice and @jenwriter17 This is not a h…[Read more]

This doesn’t have a name yet, but it is supposed to be a contemporary novel set in the American West with a plot similar to the old Westerns. This is not a book blurb, just an explanation of what it’s about.
Chara (Sh-ah-ra) Doran visits her uncle and aunt in Nevada. She is a five-foot-tall nineteen-year-old who is self-conscious about her s…[Read more]

@skredder That’s awesome that you were able to help a fellow writer! I’ve met at least three other writers (who were previously strangers) just by wearing my favorite writer shirt that says “It’s okay. Writers should be strange” 😜
I love that ‘mafia’ game! I often play it in big groups with homeschooling friends. I’m never the story teller (so g…[Read more]

I created this topic to share all the funny and weird things that has happened to us being writers. Here’s a couple of my experiences….
I daydream while my mom and another mom-friend talk about their kids’ interests. I’m really not part of the conversation until my mom says, “My daughter writes books.”
Mom-Friend turns to me. “Oh really?…[Read more]
