Tagging my bestie @sierra-r because she actually doesn’t know how amazing and lovely she is and I really want her to know how much I love her and how much I want to shove ice cream in her face to prove it.

The GIF-hiders: An Easter Story
Part Three: The Flight to the Castle
That afternoon, Jenna opened the door of her house to a whooshing noise just outside, and she gasped at the sight of a sleek, dark red dragon, peering at her silently with yellow eyes.
Jenna’s mouth couldn’t help but fall open, even after hours of mental preparation. But now…[Read more]

So, in my new book, Firefly Town, there is a younger teenager, Josh, who’s deaf. He communicates with ASL, American Sign Language. The second main character, Clay, is hearing, but learned ASL to talk with him. Felicity, the MC, when she comes into town, meets Josh. She knows a few signs, from a deaf girl at college, and learns some more.
I know a…[Read more]

Sorry, my post vanished so I had to resubmit it.
On the first day of Christmas, the DeGraafinator gave to me, Daniel sipping sweet tea
On the second day of Christmas, Stormpoofer gave to me, 2 bloody pages
On the third day of Christmas, Macaroni gave to me, 3 ramen noodles
On the fourth day of Christmas, Mountain Stanton gave to me, 4 pounds of…[Read more] -

@aratrea Thanks! Yeah, I don’t like those books where it takes you 20-50 pages to get to the truly interesting stuff.
Hmmm, I shall ponder how to craft my tale in new epic ways, knowing how to wield my sword (er, pen and keyboard) a bit better now.
Thanks again! Oh, and thanks @sierra-r for writing the article.

@amy-l-klob I’d recommend starting by introducing your protagonist, but I would be careful about having a slow lead-in to the actual story. You want to grab the audience’s attention in the first page. That doesn’t mean you need to immediately leap into the main plot of your novel, but you should be including some conflict and/or intrigue that…[Read more]

@bethanysinkyroses that would be @sierra-r and I have forgotten Cindy’s as well. 😛
The first thing that strikes me as I read your summary here is that you’ve focused a lot on symbolism.
That’s a good thing. But it can also be a hindrance. In my experience, when I focus too much on the symbolism of a thing, it comes out one-dimensional as only…[Read more] -

@Sierra-R When I first joined KP back in November, I was lamenting the fact that swords cost way too much for a person in their right mind, and you recommended Cold Steel training swords, which are much less expensive. Well, I now have a sword. A Cold Steel sword. It is lovely. And I would like to thank you for introducing me to the cheapest (and…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy @that_writer_girl_99 @aratrea Part 1 has outlines for all the lessons if you’d like to go check them out. 🙂 I’m hoping to write out lesson one today.
@sierra-r Have you seen this yet?
-
Awesome! I’ll look them over today, probably later tonight. @daeus
-
@Daeus which one is part one…
-
Part 1 – emotion telling. Right at the top of my outline. There are four lessons listed under it.
-
Aha, thanks. Found it. 😉
-
-
-
Which lessons make up Part 1? Is there a doc somewhere that categorizes/lists all these lessons?
-
Here’s the outline https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W87kcWtV1azNc5zA34D9jQ3yNl-wbnGDgYOnxAhrs5k/edit
In parentheses at the top it says (part 1 – emotion telling) The four lessons under that are the ones that have outlines.
