@Kat — yeah! I’ve read the first one and absolutely loved it! So onto the second one 🙂 I have not read that book.

@Hannah — Cool! That sounds awesome!

@Hannah– Cool! What was “Dreamlander” about? I think I’ve heard of it before… not sure. Hah! Fantasy is sort of what I live on… no joke. xD

I’m almost always listening to music when I write. Most of the time it is soundtrack stuff (because soundtrack music is awesome… XD), but if there’s one song that really speaks to the chapter, then I’ll listen to that on repeat… for the hour or so that it takes to write the chapter… Ex. I listened to “I See Fire” from the new Hobbit movie…[Read more]

@Kat — Haha! Yeah.. I’ve finished This Present Darkness and its sequel Piercing the Darkness now! Both of them were great, and This Present Darkness is probably now my favorite book of all time.

As for what I am reading now, I am about to start the second book in Wayne Thomas Batson’s and Christopher Hopper’s co-written series The Berinfell…[Read more]

Hi Hannah! Glad you’re committing to writing and joining the forum! You definitely should post some of your writing in the critiques board!

I’m also curious to know what Kris asked. What do you like to write?

  • Warning: This excerpt is a tad-bit morbid. Nothing graphic though, at least in my opinion.

Here is part of a chapter of a Dystopian novel I’m working on called “Eventide.” I have a few questions I’d like to get feedback on. I’m still developing the world so some contextual references may change. It’s basically about a society ruled by a…[Read more]

Gosh. I should win some kind of award for longest period of time between replies…

Wow. Yes. That should totally be a show. And the sad thing is, it would probably do really well. XD
But yes. Always have I had this immense void in my soul, this longing ache for… I knew not what. And now that I have discovered my Toothbrush Twin, it aches no…[Read more]

    Hi Rachel,

A few days ago I received an email announcing changes in how KP members can submit their pieces directly to the KP Dashboard. Just wondering when that will be an available option for submitting. 🙂

Also, I was pronouncing “NAAFSI” as “NAFF-Sigh” as opposed to “N-A-A-F-S-I” or “NAFF-See”. I personally like the acronym, so if you do decide to keep it, then maybe you could just have a character(s) refer to “NAAFSI” in dialogue as “Naff-Sigh” or “Sigh” or “Naff” or something. Perhaps the lower-case letters or abbreviations would help people get…[Read more]

Wow! I really like this! I like this genre, and the mystery, and the situation (no parents; no friends, being watched and monitored, etc). I also can personally relate to the MC, and she feels real, which is very good.

I was thinking, though, if it might not be better to open the story with the scene where she is talking to her parents. This is…[Read more]

They did send criminals to New Zealand. I had to make sure of that one. And I now have a pretty good source of information to draw from.

Anyone who had done the smallest bit of crimes could be sent there. Mothers with small children or babies, a child who stole food, etc. So there are more than just that baby as well.

    Alisia’s always been a…[Read more]

Good to see you on the forum, Blaine!

World-building definitely is one of the most enjoyable parts of writing. I’m in the middle of my most ambitious world-building/plot planning project yet. Since I have so little time for writing, I figured I would just plan out every single little detail before-hand (a little at a time) and then try and write…[Read more]

Hey, Erin! Good to see you on the forum!

I really need to learn guitar or piano. Or both. Just one of those things I keep meaning to do but don’t. >_< I never liked the learning music growing up because all the songs you had to play were like “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Hot Cross Buns” and I didn’t like them and they didn’t seem very manly. XD…[Read more]

Some things that came to mind for me:

Did they send criminals to New Zealand? I know they were sent to Australia, but I have never heard of New Zealand. That’s interesting!

Also, if she’s being shipped there as a criminal…why is there a mother with a baby on board too? I’m also curious as to why she became a thief.

And if you’re not sure…[Read more]

Once upon a time, a copycat asked her brother to choose three pictures from her pinterest boards. These three pictures had to be woven into one story.

There you go. I copied one of the OYANers and asked my brother to do just that. Now I have three pictures to put into a story. I have two of them easily but the third one I just can’t get.

    What I…[Read more]
