@warrenluther04 Usually when people want beta-readers here on KP they post a link to a google doc in the “Novel Critique” or “Short Story Critique” sections of the forum, then tag some people and ask them to look it over. Sometimes we ask for comments directly in the comments section of the google document (In that case you have to “allow…[Read more]

@seekjustice Ummm, which Joseph? There were two important ones. I’m assuming you mean the one from Genesis, not the one from Matthew and Luke?
Yeah, I would never think of crushing on most of the characters in the Bible, no matter how much I admire them. But for some reason Jonathan really appeals to me as a man, not just a hi…[Read more]

Getting back to the original topic…Has anyone read The Courtship of Miles Standish? I really loved John Alden in that because the poor guy had to fight it out with himself about whether to help his best friend court the girl that he was actually in love with himself.
I also adore Peter in Not Regina.
And I’ve always wondered: Is it sa…[Read more]

@ariella-newheart Oh, I had this same problem with one of my books… 🙂
Since this is a series you are writing, the easiest way to do it without confusing the readers might be to make only a few characters the important ones in each book. If the others are background characters in one book, and then they become important characters in another…[Read more]

@clairec Haha! No, I was speaking figuratively. There’s no specific “marriageable age.” 😀
However, my dad is from the Middle Eastern culture, and marriage and grandchildren are very important to him, and to all of us. After all, “children are a blessing.” 🙂 The way we figure it is a guy is “ready” to get married when he has a good job with…[Read more]

@warrenluthor04 WOW! Those are amazing names! I’m afraid I can’t pronounce Ualair, though. Is it pronounced like a Hawaiian name? Or a European name? Or is the pronunciation entirely original? 😀

So, I think I’m going with Oliver, since it has the majority. I still haven’t decided on a title for the book yet, but will probably go with Blueberria, Blueberries for Oliver, or A Ticket to Blueberria.
However, I tried to edit the name into the book but couldn’t figure out…[Read more]

@seekjustice Awww, thanks. 😀 I can’t wait!
Inner logician: Well actually, that phrase never made sense to me, because obviously the person saying it will be forced to wait, and therefore can wait. If I truly couldn’t wait it would be necessary for me to die before the time to read your book came upon us. The phrase “I can’t wait” should only…[Read more]

@clairec Oh, we’ve worried about the same thing! We have thousands of books in our library, many of which were birthday and Christmas gifts for various of our thirteen siblings. Now that five of us are marrying age( 😀 ) we have kind of reached an agreement with our anxious younger siblings that any books gotten while at home stay with our p…[Read more]

@seekjustice Oh, I don’t know if I ever told you how much I liked Jonas. I don’t think I listed him with my favorite characters because the list was already too long. But I loved his sweet counseling of Chessy which did not detract from his manliness.

Oh! I just thought of someone!!! Or, two people. Colonel Nobody and Edmund from The Boy Colonel by John J. Horn! Colonel Nobody is adorably confused with the sudden armful of loveliness thrust upon him in the shape of Lady Liana, and Edmund is a great pal and counselor. I can’t decide who I like better. Anyone else read that book?

@jenwriter17 I like several of the guys in Chuck Black’s books, too. I especially liked Leinad, Gavinaugh, and Dalton. (I was so happy when Dalton and Carliss finally ended up together.)
@livgiordano I liked Drew pretty well in the first book. I didn’t end up reading the sequels because I heard they didn’t end well. 🙁 Oh, the Crown and Cove…[Read more]

@clairec Yes, Mikkel and Bree are both amazing! (I almost got mad at Tully when Mikkel found out about him…) Have you read the other Lois Walfrid Johnson series?
Guess what? I actually have heard of the Billabong series. (I have no idea where!) But never read them, so I’ll look them up! And they’re not as old as most books I read! The …[Read more]
