@daeus What do you mean by established? Like, it’s my full time job? I have several books published? If so, the answer is… I don’t know.

@mnvalentine @that_writer_girl_99 I didn’t think about the positive themes of Harry Potter… Good point. I love the Harry Potter books, and taking the quizzes and stuff. I don’t like the Hunger Games.

@that_writer_girl_99 Ah, I see your point. I was thinking how Harry Potter, (though this wasn’t my original example) has reached hundreds of people who are obsessed with what house they are in and what wand they have. The books, though even I love them, subtly tell us things like lying is okay, and even helpful sometimes. The Twilight series…[Read more]

@daeus I’d like to, but I can’t see myself getting as popular and impactful as Twilight or the Hunger Games.

@rochellaine I don’t know if this counts, because it is in a video game (though they have written books about him), and he is married and has kids, but I just think he is super awesome. It’s Go’el (Thrall) from World of Warcraft. I fangirl so hard over WoW, and Go’el especially. Once, my character went up to talk to him, since he had a quest for…[Read more]

@daughteroftheking I get what you mean, once I watched a Hallmark movie about this lady who was training to be a shrink, and coincidentally struck out a friendship with this 11 year old girl and her widowed father. At the Dark Moment of Doom of that movie, the dad read part of the MC’s therapist thesis paper thingy, that closely described the…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting *screams of excitement.* I just got it and I can already tell it is going to be SO USEFUL! I wish that I could get the premium features (races and magic would be so helpful), but I am far too stringy.
@jenwriter17 I’m homeschooled too!
Oiy, @daughteroftheking have you seen this?

@valtmy Prepare for a rant.
I really dislike love triangles. Immensely. I will not read books that otherwise look good if it looks like it will have a love triangle. I feel like if a girl is in a relationship with two guys (as it normally is in these situations) she is leading them both on. She doesn’t really love either of them if she “loves”…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 I’m not an expert on dystopia, but it does seem like a fairly classic dystopian story.
An oppressive government (but bonus points for the MC starts off already in rebellion.) A teenage girl MC who is “different” (by virtue of being an Outcast, she is “different”). Parent’s with a Peculiar Past. And I am not sure, but if I had to…[Read more]

You know you are a bookworm when you used to hide books around the house to sneak in a couple paragraphs whenever you have the chance. And sometimes you still do it if it is a really good book.
You know you are a bookworm when the only conversations starter you have is, “So, have you read any good books lately?”
You know you are a bookworm when…[Read more]

@perfectfifths Actually I used that website to get the names of half my characters. Thanks, I definitely try out words in other languages.
@rochellaine Ok. Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll try it out.

So, I’ve made a magic system, but I need names for different parts of it. I’m not satisfied with any of the names I’ve come up with, so I thought I’d ask y’all for help 😉 since I know some of you are good at making up names for characters. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.
So there are three kinds of magic overall, and they all…[Read more]

@valtmy I love magic systems! I don’t know if this would be helpful to you at this point, but I published an article on creating a magic system a while back on Kingdom Pen.
#1. I think it would be better for everyone to have a different elemental type, but I can see your problem of coming up of reasons why. Maybe, to mix it up a bit, everyone…[Read more]

@valtmy My family did foster care for something like 13 years, and during those years there was never NOT a baby in our house. But we stopped five years ago, after a bad experience with the agency, so it’s been a while since I’ve done much with a baby.
That box does sound pretty unsafe. It’s wooden, so to make sure the baby doesn’t get jostled…[Read more]
