That’s been a hard on for me. I tend to stick with Mother or Father, or Mom and Dad…basically whatever the MC uses. If it was a separate scene with just the parents, I normally use their first names.

Emotion is a hard thing for me to write, though it is definitely worth taking the time to write well because unrealistic emotion ruins the best story.

Or maybe something ‘the black’, or ‘the blackhearted’ (though that might be a bit overused). My brother came up with a character who’s surname was Blackheart…and the man wore a black heart on his belt. That could be interesting. 😉

‘fell doom of calm’ is one of the trickier lines, I just need to think of an alternative. I want it (and the next line) to carry at least a hint about the birds not singing anymore and there being silence. I just have to figure out what words to use…
