@alia Course i remember you. You’re even friends with me on here. 🙂 Oh dear. Yes, the fire does seem to have caused things to shut down around here. I wondered what had happened. Oh well, we shall have to do the best we can with charcoal desks and singled chairs.

@jenwriter Oh that’s hard. I think my favourite series is Wars of the Realm. But my favourite book is Kingdom’s Quest. I love Keanna. I made a movie once for his competitions and did a scene from her book. Here’s the link.

@bluejay Ah, that makes me feel better for Australians. I’m glad you have the alphabet game. 😉 That’s funny though, that you find X to be a hard letter. We can easily find it on all the “Exit” signs along the highways. X is one of the absolute easiest letters to find. I’ve never heard of “quote” signs. @seekjustice do you have any idea…[Read more]

@rochellaine I’m Aussie and I play that alphabet car game. It’s great to help pass the time. Q is hard. We tend to use the word “quote” which is on electrical cubicles beside the road for things like traffic lights etc. I’m not sure exactly what they are used for, but they are there. X is the really hard one for me. (For a harder level, we also…[Read more]

@catwing yes, I use to be on here a lot. I miss how bubbly this place used to be too. It’s always a shame when things change, but life does go on.
@jenwriter17 Yay! Questions. Let’s see. I love books about Biggles. He’s a pilot during WWI & WWII. Great adventures and lots of suspense. As for my fav author, I love books by Chuck Black. My hobbies…[Read more]

@seekjustice Ah yes, Bottle-o was mentioned in the video as well.
The alphabet game is a game played in the car where you basically look at road signs, license plates, or anything you can see to find each letter of the alphabet in order. I believe it’s one of the most common car games in America. Since “q” is one of the least used letters, w…[Read more]

Bottle shops is the technical word, they are actually referred to as the “bottle-o” though.
I may need some clarification on the alphabet game.
😀 My brother and I were just discussing the difference between Aussie patriotism and US patriotism.

@catwing I’d love to word war. (It might help us both with our procrastination. 😉 )
@jenwriter17 Hi! How’s it going?

@seekjustice I’ve been watching a YouTube video on the differences between American, British, and Australian English. 😀
The difference that really stuck out to me was that the Australian person in the video said you don’t have “Liquor stores” you have “bottle shops.” Is that true? And if so, how do you play the alphabet gam…[Read more]

I just looked up the genre conventions of dystopian fiction and my novel includes all of them, though they are pretty severely underdeveloped 😀

But, technically speaking, its hardly a contemporary… 😛

I know, I seem to have worked myself into a tight genre spot. I can’t really think what I could market it as though. It doesn’t really fit anyway.
Oh well, I’ll see how it turns out after the third draft.

I know. But I’m so easily distracted! And yes, I know you want to read Wattle Fire 😀
oh, and I liked what you said about the worldbuilding. That actually makes a lot of sense, because I’m not entirely sure why I find the worldbuilding for SFI so difficult, since I’ve found the worldbuilding for Wattle Fire, which has a lot more intense…[Read more]

Maybe I just like letters? I write a lot in real life.
I’ll have to think over all the stuff you’ve said, but I did just want to point out that he does move from the Capital to his current house. He grew up in the Capital and that’s where his business was. He moved to his cool garden after the financial crisis.

@valtmy I see. Yes, regarding worldbuilding that makes sense.
Well, in that case I think Jean would be stupid to be living still in the same city instead of relocating to another city or country. The world is huge, and he can go anywhere he wants to, as he has a lot of money (I think that was established, right?) so why would he stay right t…[Read more]

@seekjustice Oh, and I don’t mean that Caderousse herself is necessarily a spy per se. Just that she seems to be acting like one in the hypothetical you proposed. If she’s targeting one particular person for one particular reason, rather than crime in general, she’d likely have some sort of spy system looking out specifically for what Jean is d…[Read more]

My first thought on reading your question was on how that would impact the original confrontation between Caderousse and Sapphire. If Caderousse had been observing and examining the Verde family for years in attempt to find a pretense to arrest Jean, (or something similar, I’m not sure exactly what you’re intending here, but the…[Read more]

Yes, I’d thought about some of those consequences but I hadn’t actually thought about Sapphire’s mother. I really should do something with her…she kind of only existed to explain why Sapphire and Chessy had no mother. And I’ve been thinking about the details of the ID system, but that’s a conversation for another time.
#2 That’s true. I…[Read more]
