They’re so cute! I love the old French details. He’s so… Elegant, and she’s just sweet with a touch of awkward.
Also, Since I’m in the middle of another historical apparel project, they strike a special cord, lol. Regency stays are a pain to draft, forget “simplicity.” Anyway, so cute. Love th…[Read more]

Box of Dreams
I have a little box of dreams
I keep it to myself.
Though sometimes when the sky is gray
I take it off the shelf.I have a little box of dreams
Each tucked in tidy rows.
Locked away from light of day
For God alone still knowsI have a little box of dreams
They hide there all inside
Lest someone else might come along
And shred…[Read more] -

Holiness and Legalism
1 Peter 1:15-16 KJV — But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
God alone is holy. We are called to abide in him and become like him. A further look at this passage brings up a fascinating point: the difference between Legalism a…[Read more] -

Awesome.
Probably good advice. I would, but it’s already in his backstory, and I didn’t want to go back and change it now.
And I mostly just lost it when I realized that this, being a modern real life setting, I couldn’t go sort through or make up the customs and laws myself, like I could for nearly any of my other WIPs.…[Read more]

Ah, thank you! This is a lot of helpful information.
Okay, so the kid is in Canada at the time (Quebec) as that’s the family residence. I have found a bit of legal stuff for Canada by now, but haven’t started looking into the American side. This is so beautifully concise (which legal documents are definitely not).
This is…[Read more]

@ellette-giselle @koshka
Fabulous! (Co-author hopping in) That’s very helpful.I will say, the parents do not work for the government. The organization is a “private investigation” style thing separate from all governments like the Pinkertons, although they have worked alongside governments in time of need. (They are connected to the Witness…[Read more]

Okay, thanks though. Neither do I.
*Uncertain laughter*
Hmmm, not a bad idea. I’ll look into that.
Alrighty. =)
Also not certain exactly how an ongoing murder investigation would pan out/effect things, when there’s no clear suspect or solid evidence besides the dad’s work (Parents were…[Read more]

I’m good with that! It’s a fun group of expected differences and surprising similarities.
@loopylin That would be interesting. 😂 I have a feeling she fights rough.
I guess I should answer Hugo’s question, lol.

I’m not an expert on this, but would say that as long as the song itself does not glorify sin, it probably falls in with eating meat sacrificed to idols. Paul teaches that one person may be able to eat it with the understanding that God made all things and the food is just food and can be eaten to glorify God instead, but another…[Read more]

This one’s fascinating. I like him, even though he’s probably not a great guy… yup. You said he’s a villain. Oh well. XD Let’s see…
The board is both straight forward and mysterious, so I’m guessing the character is pretty similar. The child aspects are most interesting to me, since I can’t tell if they represent him or someone he…[Read more]

Oh joy! Oh exultation!
I haven’t been able to really look at this thread in a bit. (Been up to my elbows in royal icing.) Now oh!
I’m so excited. It’s this book! Hooray!
I love Cassion and Rory’s boards. They’re perfect.
Do you have a scene with sliding around on sock feet? It would be delightfully light-hearted for a book w…[Read more]

And technically he’s from Quebec, do some stuff is in French. Which is certainly interesting, just not helpful. O_o

That would be lovely. I might just have to recruit you, if I can find stuff.
I did find something called the Youth Act, but while it had a lot of instructions for foster organizations, it didn’t seem to have any for a kid who has no parents left.

Any call for assistance is greatly appreciated. I have no clue who to tag.
(Totally didn’t freak out when I realized that since this book is technically set in the real world it has to at least look believable, and I can’t just write the law myself. Fantasy author problems)
Well, it wasn’t Google’s expertise either.…[Read more]

I have a problem. A very ugly, very big, just decided to try and eat my entire backstory problem.
I don’t even know how to research this. My internet dive was entirely unproductive, at least to me. It simply made me more aware of how big this story devouring problem is. And how little I understand legal documents. Especially when from other…[Read more]
