Thanks all!
After considering everything you all said, I decided I probably won’t keep them. I mainly just had them before because I don’t know. I had no reason really. They weren’t very good ones anyway. -

@anne-of-lothlorien This is great!!! You’re character in Ali is great! Even from the beginning I feel terrible that she has to go through that with her family. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

@anne-of-lothlorien That’s awesome! 😀 I’ll pray that your aunt’s pregnancy goes well (as well as all the others). Hope the root canal isn’t terribly nerve-wracking!

@ethryndal No problem; continue working through it at your own pace. 🙂 How would you say scene one ties into your story’s theme, apart from setting up the other two scenes?

@dragon-snapper That was great! I think adding that new paragraph at the beginning was a good idea, because a few people mentioned they were confused at the beginning. Great job! I didn’t notice anything that might need editing 🙂

@winter-rose I’m done for now. I made some edits to my short story.

Hi guys! The story is due in a few days, (the 16th), though I want to turn it in by tomorrow. 😛 Anything I’m missing from this revised draft? (The editors said I should work more on character, so if you see anything that might be able to make it deeper, let me know.) Thanks!

I can’t honestly say, because my own blog is my ideal blog. It blends the topic of story and Christianity/philosophy/opinion articles with some fitness on the side. I sort of want it to be like the Nerdwriter Youtube channel which I think is just totally awesome.
But as for topics, I honestly love philosophical musings and a…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper *randomly pops in* Whoa! That is so good! I love how he’s laughing in the bottom one—I can practically hear it.
And thanks for compiling the characters. @graciegirl, I think I’m going to try Nykkai.

@kate-flournoy *has confidence in abilities* Well that makes me happy.
@delightinlife Sometimes when I’m writing short stories, I find that it helps to just forget about word limitations and write how you want. Then, when you’re done, you can go back through and carefully weed out any extraneous words or parts. And it might behoove you to ditch…[Read more]

Yo @emily-d! I’m currently writing an article on this very topic that will hopefully be published by KingdomPen. The topic of the month of June is Science Fiction so that’s when my article will (fingers crossed) be published.
Right now, all I can say is quality over quantity. Research the genre, analyze books, break down movies, talk to people .…[Read more]

Personally . . . don’t care because I don’t notice. If the book is riveting enough, then I don’t notice. I do notice if the book is a bore. So do what you want. I wouldn’t if I’m pressed for time, bu that’s just me.

@emily-d You don’t have to read a mountain of books. The more you can read the better, but 5-10 could get you by. Reading sci-fi to learn about it is different than writing yourself into it. You’ll never know the full potentials of your genre or be able to avoid the way overused cliches unless you read the genre.

Louise Fowler replied to the topic Chapter Titles in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 4 months ago
@dragon-snapper I don’t mind when there are chapter titles in books. I don’t make chapter titles for mine, simply because I can’t really be bothered thinking of any. Really, it’s up to the person writing if they want to add chapter titles – I don’t think it adds or takes anything away from the story 🙂

@Ethryndal child… seriously. Have some confidence in your own abilities. 😛 You explained that very well and I totally agree. Great points. I think you taught me something there. 😉 Or at least put something I’d only felt into words.
