@jenwriter17 haha! Then I guess I’m not alone! I use a lot of reference ‘diagrams’ (I’m not quite sure what to call them) from pinterest, which have helped me a lot.
@notawriter I love your style! It actually reminds me a bit of the art style that’s used in anime, rather than manga.

@notawriter My curent writing project is… Dystopian? Futuristic? I’m not sure what to call it. It’s set at least 100 years in the future, and people have special powers after a mega volcano was set off by nuclear activity.

@notawriter She’s great! I really like the hair. 🙂 And the somber expression is rather fitting… Thank you so much!
By the way, anyone else who wants to try their hand at drawing Darcy is welcome to do so. I love receiving multiple pictures of the same character – it helps me see her in different ways.
And thanks again to the two who’ve…[Read more]

@notawriter Thank you (though I haven’t posted anything yet. I will soon though!!!) You can stick around even if you don’t draw manga style if you want. I’d love to see some of your art if you want to post it.

Rochellaine replied to the topic Character Name Exchange in the forum Fantasy 8 years, 3 months ago
@notawriter Oh, if you want to have specific guidelines, most girls names will end in vowels, and most boys in consonants. (This is not a strict rule, but like the “i before e” rule – lots of exceptions.) 🙂

@notawriter Well, I have a little side hobby of studying language. Not, you know, parts of speech or anything, but sounds, and – um – I don’t really know how to describe it. Like, for example, you can make a name sound like it came from the Saxon era in England if you use “ae,” “th,” “dl,” or a couple of other common combinations of letters in n…[Read more]

@itisastarrynight I like watercolors too! I also enjoy multi media painting- like painting on rocks, painting/redoing furniture, and I love how watercolors look on old book pages. I don’t think I’ve ever painted with oils ether. When it comes to subject matter, when I’m painting on paper I like to do animals, flowers, and I would love to nail a…[Read more]

@notawriter Thank you! I have started writing a book, and although I know roughly how I want the story to go, and I have a bunch of ideas for it, I’ve not gotten very far into it. I also am working on an article I would like to send in to a homeschooling magazine, and I also have a few short stories that I have started. I really wish I could tell…[Read more]

Okay, here is a somewhat updated version of my story with another bit as long as the first tacked on at the end. The second half is a little more story and less ramble. I tried to fix a couple of parts some of you mentioned, such as more description, and a little bit of dialogue, and I’d like to know how you think this new version turned out. A…[Read more]

@dekreel Okay, here is the google document. You should be able to comment on it.
@sam-kowal I’m glad you like him! If you would like to point out the parts that seem too rambling to make sense, you can comment on the google document. I would like to figure out how to do that without messing up his speech, because that’s who he is. :…[Read more]

I just tried a new style of writing, and though it was really fun to do, I don’t know if it’s worth continuing like this. I’ll probably finish the story anyway, but I might change the style. Please tell me what you all think. It’s kind of based on Huckleberry Finn, though I didn’t begin it with that in mind.
I am Joshua, son of none. No, not…[Read more]

Hi, all! I know I kinda recently created a new topic asking y’all the cliches of sci-fi, but this topic is a little different. I’m thinking of writing a dystopian novel. I know this genre can be pretty heavy on the cliches, so my questions is ‘what are the cliches of this genre?’
I know the whole oppressive government thing is kinda cliche, and I…[Read more]
