@kathleenramm East of Eden by John Steinbeck has some great characters. And Dickens also has many memorable characters as well.
For me, it has to have a good ending. Not a happy ending, necessarily, but a good ending. I judge a whole work based off of the ending. For the ending to Inkdeath, I was so dissatisfied with it that I hated the whole b…[Read more]

“What do you believe is one of the most important elements of a good story?”
For me, it’s characters. A book can have the most interesting, plot-twisty, and exciting story, but if the characters aren’t any good… I’m out. And vise versa, if a story is pretty basic and cliche, but it has awesome, well-developed, and life-filled characters, I’m…[Read more] -

@scoutfinch180 Eleven prefers the first. He is both, simultaneously. Well-known as a bad person but also very anonymous.
@gracie-j Adrian would probably choose the former, because he’s very apathetic.
Would your character rather pass through walls or fly?

Cool! I’ll be putting it on my to-read list for sure.

@gracie-j Oof, I don’t write much romance…most of my characters barely have one soulmate, much less two love interests… Elizabeth would probably choose the former. She’s more focused on her work.
Would your character rather have to kiss someone to wake them up after a hundred years or be the one who is being kissed?

@nova21Â Waters continued pouring down, and no one in the castle thought of the consequences of when they stopped.

@scoutfinch180 Nathan would prefer the former, perhaps. Then again, he’s a psychopath, so…there’s no telling.
Would your character rather drop out of high school or have to spend extra years on a doctorate degree in the most useless thing ever?

@scoutfinch180 Oh I wrote a short story about this once. It did not turn out very well for me. I think they would all want to influence my actions so that I could write them a happy ending, for once.
@gracie-j My nobles would probably choose to be poor. And most don’t care that much about power so money for them.
Would your character rather be…[Read more]

@scoutfinch180 David does whatever goes along with his conscience. He prides himself in having a moral compass rather than following guidelines.
Would your character rather be beaten up or beat up others?

@gracie-j Ooh. Uh…I think pretty much all of my bounty hunters would opt for the skunk. Bears are not easy to fight, and the smell is only temporary.
Would your character rather live in a tiny apartment with all their friends or in a massive mansion all by themselves?

@gracie-j The Annihilator’s job is basically cleaning up, so he’d take the latter, as long as they’re on his list.
Would your character rather be a mermaid or a centaur?

@scoutfinch180 Ethan already eats too little. He’d choose too little, because he can’t stomach food at all.
Would your character rather be arrested for something they hadn’t done or be on the run for the rest of their lives for something they did do?

@gracie-j Well, as long as it involves dying, my immortal Ryoga is up for it. Realistically, all my characters would opt for the former.
Would your character rather always have to sit on a chair that’s too short or too high?

@scoutfinch180 David would choose to be sick and go to school so that others can suffer with him.
Would your character rather be overdressed for an occasion or underdressed?

@scoutfinch180 Averett would rather go spelunking. He’d do well in caves.
Would your character rather be a student or a teacher?

@gracie-j Ah I’ll choose characters from a non-magic world for this… Ethan would rather have telekinesis. Would help him do a lot of things, considering how physically weak he is.
Would your character rather be a lifeguard at the beach or the pool?

Hhmm… I’ve been looking for looking for some good new shows for my siblings and I to watch. From what you and @seekjustice said I may have to watch it.
I love stories that focus on the small simple things in life that get overlooked. What I’ve realized recently is that a story about someone trying to open up a successful pub…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Probably the movie The Prestige by Christopher Nolan. Absolutely stunning. The way the plot was, how the characters acted…made me realize the potential of extremely convoluted plots.
That wasn’t the most recent, though. I just wanted to mention it.
The actual most recent was probably The Golden Sheep, Vol. 1 by Kaori Ozaki,…[Read more]
