@gracie-j Oh boy. Oh boy. That second one is, uh, a very tempting situation, but as of right now I can’t think of any pairings of hero/villain that aren’t two guys or related. Well, maybe for my other project, where I kinda ship my lawful evil with my chaotic good…
Like, I’m sure that most of my characters are prepared to be rejected by their…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Recently I was looking at a really pretty piece of art and I wanted to write a story off of it but I couldn’t think of one so I set it as my desktop wallpaper and then last week I woke up in the middle of the night with an epiphany of the story I wanted to tell…
But art, watching movies, and listening to music are all probably…[Read more]

What’s something not related to writing, that inspires the most story ideas?
Although story ideas pop-up randomly while doing the strangest activities for me, there is something that almost always inspires many stories ideas that is completely unrelated to writing. And that is, staring out a window on a long car drive while listen to music. It’s…[Read more]

@gracie-j So far as I’ve calculated if I’m writing in a 200 pg wide ruled 8.5×11 inch notebook it usually ends up being maybe 60,000, 65,000? But since I’m switching to college ruled next year I can probably get more in, so…maybe over 70,000. Thirteen Ways is currently calculated as going to have over 3 million words, and Mafia is probably g…[Read more]

@gracie-j Both those options sound quite horrendous. I don’t recall if I’ve ever made any character of mine take a bath before either. Hmm, I wonder if they do… Your questions make me add to my world-building. Thank you.
Anyway, probably coffee. It’s hot, anyway. Also Rolo would sell his soul for coffee. Well, maybe not his soul. But…[Read more]

@gracie-j Whoa, those are historical novels that I’d read.
I might have given synopsizes for my things, maybe not. But here goes nothing. (I’ll make up new stuff as the old ones are outdated. Let’s see how well I can do when put on the spot.)
Thirteen Ways to Infinity:
Magic Users. The most blessed and most cursed of all those created…blessed…[Read more]

@gracie-j James would babysit two kids, Christopher would rather housesit for a hoarder, Ghost would rather change her full name.
Would your character rather be best at balancing a spoon on their nose or the best at high opera singing?

@princessmk Aw, he’s really cute! I hope you have a great time together.
I used to write a lot of poetry, but I haven’t really found any inspiration nowadays…mainly sticking to song lyrics now. Do you like free-verse or any special format?
Ooh, a magic elevator! I really like the sound of that. The world sounds really interesting, too. I also…[Read more]

@gh24682468999 Let’s see…tips…I’ve tried doing NaNo once or twice before last time, but always failed. You gotta make yourself and sit and finish the word count every day, otherwise you fall behind really easily. I stayed up a lot at night trying to finish. Also utilize your weekends and free time. Don’t worry about plot/grammar/characters.…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 It’s been a while since I’ve world-built…for my fantasy one I basically came up with things I liked, I think, and as my story progressed I added on. I’m very much in the “make up everything as you go along” group.
For my mafia one, though, as I’m currently plotting, I ask myself questions about the plot and add in different…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 Ooh, sounds a little bit like the Pendragon series.
Ah, my own world also has different worlds which are connected in various ways. Thirteen of them, to be exact, hence the name.
Let me see if I can remember all of them…

Yay, fun topic! 😀 My protagonist is Scarlett Marley, a quiet introverted teen who, in a world where superhumans are common but not considered heroes, contracts fire powers after being attacked. 🙂

@godlyfantasy12 Yay! Thank you for your hard work!
Ooh, I like the sound of your character! Can you tell me more about the fantasy world? What makes it different from the real world?
Hmm…
A have a lot of different WIPs, in different stages. I might start slow, or I might start fast, depending on my mood. I shall mention their titles just to…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 I’d totally love to hear more! Feel free any time!
(Also is there a certain thread or something to share and rant about our WIPs? Because we seem to do that in a lot of different threads…)

@gracie-j Eleven, to be completely honest, has probably been to all three places and gotten lost there. I think he might have a terrible sense of direction; not sure. He’s seems like the type.

@gracie-j Aw, thank you so much! I have very high hopes for the quality of this novel, and there are a lot of difficult subjects to write about…
Those are some very difficult POVs indeed! I’ll be praying for you and your future works as well!

@gracie-j Ooh, tough one. Rainan would rather live miles away. He couldn’t even last living in the same house with people he disliked. Things did not end up well for all of them.
I think most of my characters would rather have quiet lives and not have to deal with people, but Evan, after spending a really long time alone on an island, would…[Read more]

@gracie-j It is quite draining, isn’t it? (Also, having to learn to write like a 28 year old man seems like a very daunting task for me. Wish me luck…)

@godlyfantasy12 Oh, yeah, definitely use 3rd if you’re gonna have a lot of characters. Am currently using 3rd for my own big fantasy thing and it works way better than 1st.
And am also planning a standalone where I plan on using 1st person! Though I’m alternating between two characters so I don’t know how well I’ll be able to pull of their…[Read more]
