Hello and welcome to…the awesomest, craziest, bestistest place on the internet! So, down to business (you are about to be bombarded with questions in 5…4…3…2…1…0!) What are your favorite books? What is your favorite genre of literature? What do you like to draw/paint (I love painting and drawing, too!)?…[Read more] -

Yes, there is a contest to see who can say “bestistest place on the internet” first. 😛 😉 -

@nataliemarie
Hello and welcome to awesomest, craziest place on the internet! Glad to have you here. 😉 I write some poetry, too! You should submit some of your poetry to be published on KP (only if you WANT to, of course). 😀 By the way, what are your favorite books (this is one of the essential life questions that we all must come to terms with)? -
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Why Paolini works (or doesn't) in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
@Sarah-H I appreciate your concern and the thought you put into this, and I have to say I agree for the most part. However, once again I believe you are assigning Satan more power than he actually has.
Believe me, I am not ignorant of the presence of evil in literature. I don’t read blindly or blindly accept the worldview of anyone if I see that…[Read more] -

@I-J-Anderson Irish? Oh wow, thanks. *grins* It’s French— Huguenot origin.
Yessssss! People— I love people. I’m not as good at painting them as I’d like to be; still life seems to be easier for some reason, but I love working with people because no two are alike and there’s such room for expression and personality. I love it.

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic First or Third? in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
@PerfectFifths good question. The difference between third person and deep third person is that deep third person actually delves into the thoughts of the characters, not just stays on the surface and monitors their actions.

@Anne-of-Lothlorien not me. I mean, I may have done it subconsciously in a few diary entries, but that’s about it. (My diary is a mess of gargantuan proportions from a literary standpoint. Don’t ask). 😛

@daeus so what exactly is permaculture?
-
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic First or Third? in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
Deep third person. I write sprawling epics with gazillions of characters, and deep third person works best for those kinds. If I was writing YA or something similar with only one MC, I’d probably choose first for a deep personal connection though.

@faithdk It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you on here. 🙂 Hi *waves happily to see you again* 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
-
Hey @bluejay! *waves back furiously* 😀 I know! Ugh, forgive me… I have been reading a few of the recent topics and posts, I just haven’t had the time to take part in any discussions. I hope that will soon change. 😉 I have missed all my fellow KeePers immensely!
-
@faithdk Busy life??? It’s about to get busy for me. I have a kids convention and then a pantomime. It will be fun, but extremely full on. I’m guessing KP won’t see much of me in January. 🙂
-
@bluejay basically, yes -busy life. 😛 But I am trying to get back into the writing groove again. A few blog posts are really the only writing I’ve done over the past few months, and frankly, it irks me to pieces!
Ooh, that sounds interesting. But I have never heard of a pantomime… what is it exactly?-
A pantomime is “theatrical entertainment in which words are replaced by gestures and bodily actions.” At least that’s what the dictionary says. So basically it’s more about acting your part out. Also if you are doing a Peter Pan panto he’s a girl. Please don’t ask me why, it just is. *weird* Although it did allow me to have him. And the next year…[Read more]

@faithdk (Forgot to tag you)
And random question: Your hair is really pretty, do you have to style it to make it look like that or is it natural? -
@bluejay I see… It sounds very much like something I might have to look into further. Just recently, I’ve been thinking about acting and trying it out -see if I’m any good. I would like to use some of my stories to act out with my younger siblings, but they cannot read yet. *sighs* Good luck with the pantomine though! I wish I would be doing…[Read more]

Haha. There are some children involved in the panto who are very young too. I think this year they are making the youngest level 7 years. Thank you, I’ll can tell you about it once it’s done if you like.
Okay. I have been thinking about getting my hair cut and I’m trying to find a nice style. I think I will be donating it though, so I’ll have to…[Read more]

@Daeus just thought I’d let you know I won’t be write-a-thoning tomorrow— no success hunting today, so I’m going out again tomorrow. I did get lots of outlining done though. 😉

Now??? @winter-rose. Send your email address to @spradlin and she’ll forward it onto me (please Sarah) and then I’ll send through the story to you. Does that suit?

BlueJay replied to the topic Writers' Corner #3 in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
@winter-rose I’m done editing. It was good to get that out of the way, although I’m at a bit of a sticky spot as I’m unsure what to do with it now. If you care to read it I could always use new beta readers… 🙂

Oh, dear. You asked the question. You see, most practitioners don’t even know how to define it, because it’s such a broad subject, but I came up with my own definition that I think hits it at the heart, and I double checked and receive a thumbs up on the definition from the guy who’s probably the leading permaculturist in the world. My definition…[Read more]
Wow… that is actually really cool. Yes, that does make sense. 😀 What would you do with it? Did you take classes or something? Or did you go to college?
@Daeus
No, it was an e-course. I think it lasted three months. At the end, you had to submit a proposal for a property design and then if you showed understanding of the material, they passed you. I actually did the Craig’s property. …and they still haven’t even seen the design. Which is fine, since I would need to edit it first.
I could contract as…[Read more]
