Yay!!! Allegory is one of my favorite genres!
Ok, what are some of my favorites…
A series my sister is writing, which is totally AWESOME!! She doesn’t have a set title yet, but whenever it gets published it will definitely be my go to recommend!
Narnia. Every time I read them I find another something deeper. The other works of his…[Read more]

Allegories!!! (As opposed to allergies which is what auto correct wants to change it to)
First off, hooray! Go for it!
But now on to business. (Or perhaps better described as a long rambling of my thoughts)
What are my favorite allegories?
I like Biblical retelling type allegories, but as I don’t know what specific type you’re doing,…[Read more]

You should totally try sometime, it’s really fun.
As for a twist, we made the cities post-apocalyptic. We of course did it for the story, but the post-apocalyptic vibe ended up really fitting with the cities we grew up in, particularly Cincinnati lol.
Who knew writing about a broken and corrupted version of a place you used to live…[Read more]

Okay, y’all, I need a brainstorming partner… or two… or as many as I can find, haha…
It’ll actually be for two separate projects. One is a middle-grade contemporary novel, and the other is a YA fantasy. If you’re up for helping me brainstorm, either (or both!) need work, so anyone who can, pretty much? I’ll give the tags here, and then put…[Read more]

Uh, I’m not entirely sure, but I’ll give you an outline of what I’ve done.
I’m supposing you already have your character/s discovered for the most part, so-
I read To Save a Cat Writes a Novel.
And warped that advice to fit my own needs.
But what exactly did I do?
Well…
WARNING: THIS MAY BE UNINTELLIGIBLE AND HORRIBLE ADVICE.…[Read more]

We really do. 😆 I bet its because we either have long and slightly confusing names or names we don’t want to completely reveal (as is in my case). Besides, who wants to say the entire title of a book when you can just say the acronym?

EmilySF replied to the topic I technically count as new in the forum Start HERE 2 years, 6 months ago
(so I don’t have to be naming them with vague titles anymore:)
My oldest WIP that I’m writing with a friend, I refer to as: RotH
My other oldest WIP that I’m writing by myself, I refer to as: HofE
My newest WIP, the one I’ve probably mentioned most, about the mentor who dies, I’ll refer to as: FP,WS
Other smaller projects I will still vaguely…[Read more]

Oh hey! I’m always happy to hear of another person learning Latin, @madelyn! Nice to know of people outside my class who are learning it.
I have…. *crawls into hole for shame* not read any of the LOTR/Tolkien books at all. Mom has read the Hobbit to us, and I’ve listened to the Theatrical Drama production of the Hobbit, but I… haven’t read…[Read more]

My favorite kinds of tea are as follows:
Bangel Spice, Earl Grey, English breakfast, Honey Vanilla Chamomile, and we’ll finish off with Lemon Ginger!
Favorite music artists… I haven’t found many songs that Matthew West does that I don’t like! I would say, if I had to choose one, it would be him. But I also love a cappella music, so…[Read more]

Hello there, and thank you!
It truly is an inseparable part of my life, @madelyn! I’m part of the Alliance church, though we used to go to an evangelical church.
Would you believe you’re the first person to ever ask that? 😀 The inspiration for my username is a double meaning: first of all, it means that my life on earth is a melody that, in…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Yes~creating new worlds and seeing where the story leads!! How about for yourself??
@elanor I’m not entirely sure how I would classify it. I would probably say more like historical fiction in a fantasy setting, but without the fantasy element… which probably makes no sense LOL I used to write poetry, but I haven’t written any for…[Read more]

Ah, well, here’s the issue: I’m a plantser. I do a bit of planning and a LOT of pantsing. All I know when I start thinking up a WIP is the beginning, ending, or a climactic scene near the end. I rarely beginning working on the project right away, so it simmers away on a back burner while I focus on other things (like, geometry… *grim…[Read more]

I can start a pretty good fire myself… just get me a lighter or matches (I haven’t tried rubbing rocks together since I was 8 which I suppose wasn’t even for the purpose of fire.
