I expanded what I had to 202 words, but it’s still really flash fiction. Let me see if I can get my other idea in order.

Lol. This is hilarious. I finally wrote a short story I would consider submitting for this and it’s just 179 words long. Back to the drawing board. XD

I was wondering if that was the inspiration. Rhoda is one of my favorite Bible characters. XD

Hmm.
…
I like it. 😄 I’m still suspicious about all this new governor has in mind, which is good in a literary sense. The events make sense even as they toss the next bit into suspense. This version is less intense than the previous one, but I liked having a period of quiet worry about what would happen suddenly change to…[Read more]

Also, I am working on a short story for the prompt, it’s just gotten a little delayed (I decided to totally scrap my first idea in favor of another one Thursday. It’s been interesting)

WHAT???!!!
*Undignified squealing commences*
Oh, she is kinda scary. I think she’s done a good thing though. She deserves the medal.

I’d say don’t kill the boys. You could bring them close, scare the living daylights out of the others, but don’t kill them.
I expected them to get captured and killed. It felt like “here we go again”. So many characters by this time have been killed, that it was almost…boring? Change…[Read more]

By the way, this article isn’t (or maybe it is) about psychological suffering, but since I’m pretty sure it’s point is what you’re intending in your stories, I’ll share it. It definitely changed the way I think of pain.
And it’s hilarious, so you know. Thought you’d enjoy.…[Read more]

Ok, I will say that I enjoyed how it was carried off in this section. I agree with what @linus-smallprint said about that. It reminded me of The Healer by Dee Henderson. (A book about facing the grief of a broken world.) Very good.
What I say is redundant is the fact that it feels like more characters are dying than those who…[Read more]

Eeellllllleeeeeeetttttttte………
Why shouldn’t you kill them? Well, because it’s getting redundant. I love your story and your characters. The setting has a unique feel of its own and the characters are compelling to say the least. However, unless you have a brand-new absolutely unseen point to make with more death, it may…[Read more]

Awwww, so fun! (Why do your grown characters still ignite the “poor little babies” part of my brain?)
Also…what does Nikolai look like perchance? And have you done a collage for him? (If you haven’t…well now, I don’t know a whole lot about his story, but I think I’ve caught his drift)

Does it fit how you pictured him? The plushie is yet unclaimed.

Not sure. Maybe because he’s a guardian type, protecting his younger brother. Maybe because he reminds me of a centurion, and I always loved the centurions in the Bible. He doesn’t understand everything, but he has a strong sense of honor.

I will post a character aesthetic, though. It has a bit of the backstory woven in, so I won’t be specific, but see if you can guess who it is! (I say like it’s not painfully obvious.) Whoever gets it right gets an imaginary plushie of this character OR his horse!

Good. That’s what I assumed was happening.
The emotional/spiritual aspect will be addressed later.
I’m afraid I was more concerned over the emotional/psychological aspect, but I suppose that’s kinda what you meant.

Mae Govenen! Thank ya’ll for your feedback. And I will especially thank you for tactfully reminding me to post the extra that fateful Thursday.
As we all know, the extra was not posted.
