I love revamping old stories. Because you already have the characters and the story, so you can just focus all your energy on shaping all the pieces into a really interesting story.
What are you most looking forward to redoing in that story?
Well, I mean we didn’t always get along haha. When we were younger there…[Read more]

Percy Jackson was my childhood! I started reading the series when I was nine and they still have a special place in my heart today. The Lighting Thief was the first book that made me like reading!
Whose your favorite character?
And what thing about the books surprised you the most?
Woah! I’m so glad you liked it!…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic What are the 2 (or 3) biggest stakes in your story? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
I love how each book continues and develops the stakes. So they aren’t the same old stakes or total random new ones, but developed stakes form the previous books.
And I really love the theme of selfishness in the last book and how it ties in with the stakes. It makes the characters and the story so interesting.
How long have you been…[Read more]

What was it like writing your first novel?
The very first novel I finished I wrote with my siblings. We always had trouble actually finishing a novel from front to back, because along the way we’d run into a problem that we couldn’t find a solution to that we all likedSo determined to finish our first novel we decided to do something way…[Read more]

Your friend has great taste. Erased was so good I watched it in two days.
Visuals in writing is so fun. It’s a challenge because you can only use words instead of actual imagery, but that somehow makes it all the better because you have to get creative with it.
My favorite part about writing is exploring different characters. Their…[Read more]

I 100% mean what I said! Your art is amazing!
Yeah, I do art too! Last year I challenged myself to draw a sketch a day for a year, so my art improved a lot last year. However this year has been it bit harder to draw since I’m trying to get my drivers license, acting in plays, plus trying to improve my YouTubing skills, oh and of course…[Read more]

My jaw literally dropped when the image loaded on my screen.
The character design is so unique and the colors and blending is gorgeous. Everything from the eyes hair and clothing is perfect.
Do you use colored pencils or pastels?

Hey! Welcome to the forum! It’s awesome to have you here.
I’m Kathleen, and I live most of my life in fictional worlds rather than in reality. May not be the best decision, but at least I can come up with a bunch of cool story ideas. XD
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Haikyu, but haven’t watched it. As of now, probably my…[Read more]

I love hearing what movies or books inspired writers to write their own stories. It’s so fun to see one person’s story inspire another story that possibly will inspire yet another person’s story. XD
It’s really cool how you were able to take all of your favorite things about stories and make them into your own story.
Have you ever…[Read more]

That’s really cool how it started off as a world you wanted to escape to. It kinda makes me want to do the same.
I feel like it would be really fun, but also could be really cathartic and make an interesting story with all the freedom for imagination.
How long ago did you start making the stories?
With each…[Read more]

That sounds really interesting! The world where anyone could be insane is so cool and works so well with the MC’s desire for family. It sets up a really clear desire vs fear.
Where did you get the idea for Spirals?
I really love these kind of simple yet really intriguing premises. I tend to overcomplicate things in…[Read more]

What’s the 2 biggest stakes in your story?
So I’m going to be using the story I’m writing with my siblings, because my solo novel that I’m currently working on is still a baby. The MC Bennet’s main goal in the beginning of the novel is to get enough money so he no longer has to steal for a living.
In the beginning, the two biggest stakes if he…[Read more]

I know! I think that’s the very thing that makes him so relatable. We sympathize with him because of all the mental torture he put himself through, but at the same we are annoyed with how mean and pathetic he can be.
It’s not a character you want to relate to because, who wants to be Colin? But his positive character arc gives hope for…[Read more]

That sound like a really fun and chill way to write. Just letting ideas flow as you write the novel.
Where you find you get the most story ideas from?
Following characters is the best right? So many fun and out-of-no-where ideas come to me when I do that. Plus writing is so much easier.

It’s cool how you just took up a pen and started writing stories when you were younger!
Funny, I don’t think I remember a time where I didn’t know what outlining was, I guess because I grew up in a family of writers. XD

After reading Grace’s most recent article on pantsing, it got me curious about how many on here are pantsers. And of those who are, if you have any techniques or tips you use to keep your story in order and not coming out as a complete mess haha. XD

That’s interesting. It would be cool to look back through the book to find what exactly it was missing that made you unable to connect. That’s what I love to do when I read a book I don’t like. Pinpoint everything little thing that made me dislike it. It really helps me out with my writing.
