Okay, good. Thanks!
so, does this mean you’re gonna start posting chapters?! 😃
Not quite. Now that the core is taking shape, I’m getting ready to move into a more structured outline, and need to decide which of all the middle events I have planned will suit the story best. I also still need to figure out some of t…[Read more]

Hmm. I’ve written some fight scenes, but am not overly satisfied with them. I just make the characters bang their blades around for a bit until I feel it is time to make someone win. I did a little bit of research on sword fighting to improve it a bit.
I like @whalekeeper‘s advice though, about using surroundings to both hinder and help…[Read more]

Okay, I’m starting to make some refinements to my ideas, starting with some guiding principles. That involves pinpointing a one-sentence premise and pinpointing the theme of the story, as well as thinking about the arc I want Alan to go through. This is supposed to be a document that I can reference to…[Read more]

That’s a lot of note cards. That does look convenient though, having those dividers and everything stored vertically.

wait… your hand cramps from writing? Mine never did that. I thought it was a myth.
I have a bad habit of gripping and pressing on things to far. Since I’ve done so much drawing, and have trained myself to do lighter strokes there, it’s not an issue, but I need to train myself to do it with writing as well.

Hmm… That is a good point about Elsa’s powers. As far as we can tell once she learns to control her powers, she just seems to will things to happen.
I think I do want to stick with the idea for Alan having visions of magic capturing him. I think this adds a thematic element that will make Alan’s struggle more real without…[Read more]

My progress today. I wrote down on sticky notes everything I knew so far about the plot.
Pink notes are what I already had planned from Alan’s perspective when I started this. Green is Martha’s Perspective. The blue and yellow at the top are some alternative ideas I had for the beginning. All the…[Read more]

Yes, I have seen Frozen, and I think I know what you are getting at. Elsa, like Alan, worries about her powers and hurting others with them but needs to learn not to push others away. If you go back to when you were asking us which characters are like our own, Whaley, you will notice Elsa was one of the characters…[Read more]

IS THAT ALAN ABD MARTHA!!?!? *excited dance*
Maybe…
I was hoping to have that finished by Valentine’s day, but have fallen behind a bit. Hopefully, by next week it will be done.
Love how you always have illustrations on hand, by the way. XD
Thank you! I like illustrations. This story started out as illustrations…[Read more]

I doubt I’m any help right now.
No worries. I usually write without outlining as well. I’m just trying to speed up my writing and thought I would give outlining a try to see if it would help me out.
My “outlining” consists of writing random notes all over the margins of my paper as I write and forgetting about them.…

I read the two latest and thought they were good.
I like how Cole suddenly falls into his element and ends up with his team being the top in the class. I do wonder though how he knew the right answers if he never paid attention.

Just an update for you all so you know I’m still working on this.
I’m currently trying to explore further for my outline and have switched to paper. Right now I’m trying to get everything I know about the story onto paper. I’ve started and stopped this a few times now, but feel I have fallen into a…[Read more]

Okay, I am caught up now.
I see you already saw some of my comments. I like where this is going and I think Sara’s reaction to the underground church makes sense. You have good attention to detail as you write.
Out of curiosity, what draft number is this? I doubt it is the first.
Looking forward to the next chapters!

Thank you for your support! I’m still working on trying to piece everything together, but I do think I want to include that scene in some way.

yeah…. If I wanna risk seeing porn worthy covers when I open it.
Ewww… Yup, that’s a very good reason to avoid that.
(until those were taken down for being politically offensive)
Taken down for being politically offensive? Or was there perhaps another reason. One the Librarians don’t want you to know. Hmm…

Ah. I thought it might be the first draft.
Can I give you some advice?
From what I can tell about the way you write, you seem to have trouble getting through your progects. My advice to you is common for first drafts. Don’t worry about rewriting anything. Just power through, and keep writing without looking back. There is going to be…[Read more]

I have no problem throwing a book across the room. (I did that once. Right off the top of the bunk bed and into the bedside trash. I was proud of that shot) but it’s sad when you’ve spent money on the book, so thanks for saving me that for several of these. 🙃
