@mineralizedwritings @freed_and_redeemed
Yes, the idea is to do a character no one has seen before. Not just to avoid giving an unfair advantage to some contestants. This challenge is also an experiment to see how people imagine your characters without seeing any illustrations of them and is meant to help you improve how you describe character’s…[Read more]

Woah. Lotsa questions. (I completely understand though. Your gonna get lotsa questions whin I finish my current draft of The Cost)
Is that a bad thing? Do you feel like it spoils too much? What can you tell me is definitely going to happen from that scene. (Just so I can gage how much it actually does give away)
Darrien is…[Read more]

Um, because I like it. Is it bad? I can cut it. I just felt like it was a nicer ending the Sabina crying, plus I have a seven year jump ending in the next one, and a several year jump in the last one.
Well, it just gives away some of what will happen to the characters. That’s all.
As for the cover, I’m not sure what you are using…[Read more]

But, Sabina is in no place to be reading at the moment. So, this letter actually wouldn’t show up until the second book when Sabina gets a POV in the very beginning. Do you think it would be better to shift it to book two. It would be Aaron’s last letter, and it would be unread. So, the reader would know he wrote it, but never kno…

No, wait, your not supposed to be one yet! Grrrr. (Explanation: I told myself I would get the next scenes fully edited and cleaned up before you or Keilah got on and commented on my WIP. I failed. lol)
Because you asked me whether or not Aaron I thought Aaron would die and I assumed it would be answered in the next section, I…[Read more]

after one of my friends started crying over the rough draft and melting the words on the paper I had pretty high hopes for this scene. 😉
Hee hee. I know that feeling.
so, do you think he’s going to die, or do you believe he’ll get out of this?
At this point I could see it going either way. It seems your main thing for Aaron is tru…[Read more]

Do you really want me to answer that question?
Well, if I had a physical copy of the story, I would know. But I suppose this could spoil weather or not Aaron survives. I know this is a trilogy, but book two could pick up with Sabina or someone else.
My Dearest, Dearest, Darling Sabina,
Tomorrow I am going to die.

Aaron and Sabina planned the wedding quite quickly after he proposed, but there’s nothing wrong with that. A) This is a different culture than ours and, B considering the fact that danger is lurking around the corner all the time for them now, so it makes sense that they would want to get married before something happens.
Oh,…[Read more]

Oh I am going to make him die just so that you never know what happened! That would drive reader’s insane!! That is such a good idea. I hadn’t thought of that!!!
I may do that…….
You make Alcatraz look tame.
I have time to catch up today!

Happy you found that encouraging! Sorry if at times you have found what I said discouraging, I know I do tend to notice the negative more than the positive, and sometimes I just don’t know what to say. But I’m glad you have continued to write and have not given up!
As to if I think Noah is dead, I had the feeling he would…[Read more]

In this chapter, I felt more drawn into your story than I had before. Remember a while back when we were asking you to show us what life was like running an orphanage, wanting to get to know the kids more? You’ve done it here.
I felt the fun of playing with the children, I felt the worry for Noah and the foreboding of dread. Not…[Read more]

Okay. That’s not the hat I had in mind. What I was thinking of is probably too modern for your book. I was picturing more of the hat that Kalmar wears in Wingfeather Season 1, because that was what came up when I searched ‘traditional working class cap’.
(Also, just so you know, I noticed that a lot of people tagged me…[Read more]

Okay. I guess that would also help bring not just the characters, but the world to life.
I guess I do have Alan scratching his elbow whenever he feels the guilt of having used magic. I’ll have to think of some for other characters. I feel Tyn and Eric would have some.
I should probably pay more…[Read more]

Alan is joining Stripe’s cause?
Yup
One question: What’s up with the names Cyrus, Anamynth, Iskyagus and Opitarus? Are these lyens? Kinda odd, because all the lyen names up to this point have been cat-related, and I can’t see any connections with these names.
Oh, I forgot to explain Cyrus’ name. When I introduced him, I couldn’t find…[Read more]
