I’m going to kind of repeat what other people have said. Get to know your characters better. Often when I’m stuck and I don’t know what characters would do but have an idea of where I want/need them to go, I will quickly make up a list showing the thoughts in each character’s heads like this:
Brother
- Really would like some ice…

So, before I ever begin to write I pray. I write down the idea in my prayer journal and say, “Lord, here’s my idea. If you want me to write this book, give me the rest of the story” and He does.
This is really good. I need to do this more. And one of the major themes of book two of TNPT is trusting God!
8 drafts per book? Phew!…[Read more]

I don’t think I’m quite the person to ask. I tend to hyperfocus on a single project and put any other story ideas to the back of my mind for later. I’ve only ever written two first drafts, and that was some time ago. So I am lacking experience in this area. (Looks like Ellette has you covered here though. @ellette-giselle, how many…[Read more]

I’ve done something similar once before when I worked on this, so I do have some idea of what I’m doing. (I think I’ve shown you this one before). It turned out all right, so I might eventually convert that cover idea I shared. Maybe I will make it my next drawing to protect if I have the time after I…[Read more]

You’ve certainly improved a lot!

Do you think the one with Sabina at the grave could be worked in as her memory/recap when she’s in the bedroom, or does it seem out of place.
Let me reread this.
I think this is fine. There is no harm in including an illustration of a flashback. I’ve seen it done before, such as in North! Or be Eaten when Podo is telling his ta…[Read more]

I was trying to show how weird it was that the green that I was using was actually orange on the color wheel, lol
It looked kind of like an orange on my computer screen, but when I was looking at it on my phone, I could see what you meant.
I do like your art style. Is this a character from one of your WIPs?

These look fine as well, finished or not.
Which scene is Joseph and Eric from?
I think that version of Beric does work better.
Also, I think I like the second wedding option better.

Thank you for your ideas! Maybe one day, I will actually come up with another race.
hares (do those count as an edible animals to you and are thus off the list? If so ignore that suggestion
They might. In book 2, some characters will be travelling and will have to hunt for some food. Since deer is off the menu, hares, or other…[Read more]

Ah. No, I don’t tend to do that.
Okay. It did take some time to get used to, but it has helped me improve my drawing a bit.
I can send a few sketches I started last night. Some are finished while some are still in the outline stage.
Sure!

Thanks! I will start posting things on here probably on Monday, Febuary 3. My goal is to get through all of this in a month so I can start writing the first draft in March.

At the start of February (less than a week away already, wow…) I’m going to start putting together an outline for The Narrow Path Trilogy: Book II – The Sword. I’m still trying to figure out some things for this and I have some questions I would like to ask your opinion on (for…[Read more]

Do you have a plan for the front cover? (Ignore this question if you’re swamped with thoughts for the illustrations XD)
Still trying to figure that out. This is what I am currently using, and I may do something similar to this in the end (with a background, coloured, and fully developed of course. I still need to learn and practice d…[Read more]

This is the manikin I mention. He is helpful for posing, but not as flexible as I would prefer him to be:

I’m not sure what you mean by outline. I do young sketches, see if I like the drawing, and then move from there.
Basically a simple form of the drawing I use to decide where things will all go and to help me get the proportions right. It’s useful because if I make a mistake here, for example, make the arms to long, or draw the h…[Read more]

have you thought of a chameleon race or are you gonna stick to the lizards all being Australian water dragons?
I don’t know. I still haven’t thought of any more races other than the ones that are already in there, except possibly a horse-like one. So I still have seven out of thirteen slots open.
