In my mind he says it in a joking way. Is that the impression you get? And if so, does it still sound like a mother?
No, I didn’t get that impression much. Maybe if you had mentioned him smiling, I imagined him with a serious/lecturing frown on his face as he said this.
Actually, this makes me think more of my grandma or sisters,…[Read more]

Awkward bathroom conversations. Fun…
A monitor is watching. Creepy. I do know that feeling of, I could answer what I really think, but I know I will get bad marks. Although, the stakes are higher for Everette and Sara. Why does this class keep on reminding me of my Grade 11 English 20?
I see some family tension on the horizon in…[Read more]

@whalekeeper, thanks for the invite! I joined Kingdom Pen about a month after Kathleen stopped doing these and was disappointed she didn’t continue, so I’m glad to see you’ve started this up again.
I would like to improve my writing discipline. I tend to get distracted quite a lot and often feel that I could be doing a lot more than I am. I find…[Read more]

Drawing out surprise and mystery is a good idea. Hybridlore may want to know it all now, but she has more reason to keep reading now. Sometimes, it is even a good idea to never reveal but only hint, to allow the reader to piece it all together herself.
As for the editing thing again, I see what you are saying now. I guess that…[Read more]

“Governor,” the man said, bowing low. “The gods have a message for you.” Before anyone had a chance to speak, he shot his hand out like a serpent striking and thrust it at Walter’s chest.
Ah, so that’s the assassination attempt. This raises the tension somewhat; not so sure what the impact will be in the long run though, as this m…[Read more]

Yes, I am all caught up. No, I did not get your reply. Probably Gmail deciding it is the superior email system, throwing it out before I get it.

KP is breaking for everyone. *gasp* this might be the end!!!!
Yup. I couldn’t get into my account for a while, so I emailed you feedback on the latest two sections. I don’t know if you saw that. But I’m back now! Maybe I should code up a new website…

Wanna take a crack at what Leon’s not telling, or have ya got no idea?
Not at the moment, no. I had some thoughts, but Julian already guessed them aloud. I’ll wait and see what else you reveal.

Oh, so you did actually make them stay. But you’re zooming through this as well in order not to interfere with the pacing. That works.
It was late one evening and Julian was wandering aimlessly through the halls of the University.
I’m glad for this scene. Before I read this section, I was hoping your next section would have…[Read more]

Okay, I’ve begun the 9-point outline and managed not to huff, puff, and blow it all down to start over again after filling three points of it. Phew! Finally, have something down for each point. Most of this you have seen already, but not in this structured form. I wrote this with the intention of the…[Read more]

I’m still struggling to get through an outline, but it’s not working out well. I keep on getting to judgmental with myself, trying to write the perfect outline. I keep thinking, ‘ is this really what Alan would do? Is he unlearning what he learned in book I here? Is that a bad thing for his character…[Read more]

“When I read the gospels, it was clear that they were written by four different men, and that being so, those four different men record what they saw, how they saw it, and what details they believe were most important,” Heinrich explained. “Matthew, for instance, has a long genealogy in the beginning of his account and write…

I don’t think you are going overboard with different aspects of Sara’s character. The different aspects of her character aren’t distracting from each other. Her synesthesia gives he a unique perspective on the world. Her depression is a flaw she is seeking to overcome. Her love of facts interests her, and as my editor says,…[Read more]
